    Worth Experience
A very good decision to visit the caves, they a small when compared to caves in Slovenia, but they organized the tour in a good way. especially the musical show at the end in the water was amazing. We cannot carry buggies or Pram in the cave since it has almost 200 steps up and down. Worth the wait and visit. please book the ticket in advance so that you can avoid the line at the caves.
Thank you so much for letting us know your visit to the Caves of Drach was fulfilling. One of the main parts of the visit is the concert at the Lake Martel, one of the biggest underground lakes in the world. As you comment, buggies cannot be carried in the cave since there are 120 steps to go down and 120 steps to go up again at the end. Kind regards.

    Cave experience
We've just been to the Caves of Drach and had a great time. Yes there were lots of people there too, but that is perfectly reasonable to expect given that it's the height of summer. We bought the tickets online so didn't queue at the ticket office, but then queued for a short while at the cave entrance. Once in we followed everyone else through the caves and there's were very impressive. We didn't feel too pressured to move along and had time to stop for photos and look around. The concert was lovely and my only complaint would be that I could have sat there for hours listening to them play! Overall a great visit and enjoyed the snacks and refreshments outside too.
Thank you so much Debby for your amazing comment and good rating. It is true that there is a great affluence of visitors in the high season, which is normal due to the increasing number of tourists who visit Mallorca. Despite this, as you say, the visit can be done calmly, leaving some time to take pictures. The concert is really amazing and we are very glad to know that you enjoyed it. Kind regards.

    Nice cave
Nice cave and worth the visit. Book ahead of time otherwise you could wait 3 hours to get in. Every hour they only let in x amount of people (felt like 500) so the slots need to be reserved.
We appreciate you taking the time to write down your comment. As you say, the visits are done in big groups, specially in high season, and the maximum capacity is never exceeded. Kind regards.

    Fantastic experience!
We visited the caves as part of a half-day trip, which included a stop at an ancient watch tower before the caves and at Portocristo afterwards. The caves were beautiful. There are separately timed entrances, where you walk down into them. There are steps to walk down and occasionally the floor is a little slippery. There are handrails at the sides. Once at the bottom, there is a classical music concert, which was truly amazing! The only thing that ruined it a little was that lots of people didn't adhere to the no photos/video rule, which meant that there had to be many more reminders from the ushers to switch phones and cameras off as the concert was starting. Also, these devices lit up, which distracted from the overall atmosphere. After the concert, there is the opportunity to do a short boat ride to the other side (you can walk instead). The queues can be quite long, but the boat ride is probably less than 5 minutes and you are probably another 5-10 mins from the exit when you get off the other side. (Just in case you have a coach departure time, this gives you an idea of how long you can queue for, as it is lovely seeing the caves from the boat.) There are toilets, a gift shop and a cafe/restaurant there too, which we didn't really use, as our coach trip indicated that we were stopping elsewhere for lunch. As it happened, this was about 100m down the road at the pearl jewellery shop. We by-passed this and walked down the steps into Portocristo harbour for an ice cream and then got lunch once back at the hotel instead.
We are extremely glad to know that the visit reached its aim. We thank you for your amazing comment and for giving us the best mark. Exactly as you say, it is extremely important not to take any pictures or videos during the concert, as not to ruin the other visitor's experience and to preserve the atmosphere of the moment. The small boat ride is as long as the lake allows, which is arouond 200 meters. The other option is to cross the lake walking on the bridge, which has amazing views as well and no queue. Best regards.

Great to revisit again some 50+ years on! Nothing’s changed …
I came here 50 years ago with my parents and these caves with their stalagmites and stalactites made an impression on me back then, as did the boats reflected mirror like on the lake whilst the musicians on board played classical music in the darkness. Just as impressive again now all these years later bringing my own son along. Couldn’t resist given we were only a €12 taxi ride away in Sa Coma and able to book entry online (€18 each) rather than having to join a much more expensive organised coach tour with mandatory pearl shop shopping experience and limitations on time, etc. Having brought my own decent camera along I was gutted to learn my partner’s iphone14 had done a much better job of taking pictures in the twilight. Great trip around the caves. Didn’t bother with the short boat trip given the length of the Q. Takes about an hour which seems about right … one stalagmite looks much like another after 45 mins I guess. Sadly no guide (which in the dark and on slippery crowded cave floors amongst a multi lingual crowd of kids and tourists wouldn’t be practicable anyway) so had to read up on it all from a book from the giftstore along with the history. Well worth a visit and the meal in Porto Cristo after was delightful too, so all in all a good early evening out!
Thanks so much Eileen for taking the time to write down your review. As you say, the visit is not commented, but there are plenty of brochures available in our facilities in many different languages with lots of information about the visit and interesting historic and scientific facts. The millions of formations found in the cave are a true wonder of nature and we believe they are made even more impressive with the lighting work that was done many years ago and that it gives the cave a magical feeling. Kind regards.

Ok if you don’t mind crowds and feeling a bit ripped off
Overpriced for the quality and duration of the experience. Online price of 16.50 Euro per adult for 1 hour is too high for the experience. I have been to caves in Lanzarote which were much better and cheaper, where the staff were actually friendly and didn’t scowl at you all the time. Overcrowding means that you spend a lot of time waiting for the concert to be seated. There is hardly any information unless you download it on your phone and you are continually herded to move along so you don’t get a lot of time to look properly. At least 20 minutes is spent queuing for the boats and noisy (adults) people spoil the concert. Glad we went but would never come back and rather spend our money on something worthwhile.
We are sorry to know that the visit didn't fulfill your expectations. The visit lasts around one hour, where 20 minutes are spent walking through millions of formations, which we believe is enough time to look around and take some pictures. As it is stated on our website, the visits are not commented, but there are brochures available to everyone in many different languages. As for the boat ride, many people choose to do it which make a longer queuing time. If you don't wish to wait, the other option is to cross walking on the bridge, which has amazing views of the lake. Once again, we apologize if the visit wasn't of your liking. Kind regards.

    Great experience
A great experience! I recommend this as its a really beautiful cave. I went from Pl.de Espanja with the bus whic went directly to the Cave. It was full booked so I got a ticket of 17.00 H so I went from with a taxi to the HAM cave. I came back on time to enjoy the trip in the cave which was amazing. Also the boat experience in the cave and the music..
We appreciate your comment and good rating. As you say, in high season, we always recommend the booking of tickets online in advance so that you reserve the day and time of your visit. We are glad to know that youo enjoyed every moment of it. Kind regards.

    Cool & crowded caves
The caves are a beautiful natural wonder, but the crowds take away from the experience. The short classical concert is enjoyable & you appreciate the natural acoustics of the cave. Should you wish to ride the boat, try to sit front left. Queue will take a very long time for a very short boat ride.
Thank you so much for your comment. The amazing acoustics of the cave make the concert an extremely special moment that everyone really enjoys. It has been taking place for over 90 years. After that, everyone who wishes can do the small boat ride. Kind regards.

Could be beautiful, is at least interesting
Caves are stunning but the attraction could be run better to enhance the experience. The cave is huge and full of beautiful stalactites and stalagmites punctuated by rich turquoise pockets of water. At the base of the cave is a lake upon which the boat ride and the classical music take place. For me they allow too many people through at once and then the desire to stop flash photography of the orchestra is over zealous and perhaps causes the inevitable sneak shot errors where peoples flashes go off giving away their non compliance. If it was simply said to not use flash photography I think more people would be happy (especially given the capabilities of night mode on modern phones) Reasonably priced and good amenities for visitors. Worth a walk around Porto Christi whilst in the area.
Thanks Gareth for your feedback about the visit to the caves. As you say, the formations found inside the cavity are truly amazing and worth-seeing. During the concert, the aim is to preserve the atmosphere of the moment. The music starts really faint at the beginning and it gets more and more powerful as the concert progresses. If people were allowed to take picutres, even without flash, everyone would stand up to film or to get the best shots and unintentionally, many flashes would go off. Despite this prohibition, many people, as you say, try to take pictures, which sometimes ruin the lighting and ambience. This is the main reason why we do not allow it. Kind regards.

    Experience.of a lifetime
An incredible place, great value for money. The tour is about an hour long, and ends with a little boat ride through the caves. They ask you to not take photos or video, but the rules seems to be ignored by most. I won't ruin the surprise but just before the end of the tour they put in a bit if a musical show. I was very impressed.
Thank you very much David for your feedback and good rating. Everyone is asked not to use the flash when taking photos and videos, because the flash is harmful to the formations. During the concert it is not allowed to take pictures and videos at all, and we expect everyone to follow the rules. Kind regards.

Booked 2pm on a Wednesday arriving 15 early we stood in a huge queue under a covered area. At 2pm started to scan our QR codes and everyone went in the caves at the same time. This meant it was very busy everyone trying to get photos and take in the fabulous views. There were some areas to stand and take photos. Steps going in a downward direction, well lit. Average 21c inside the caves. Arriving at a large seating area next to an underground lake we hear a wonderful live concert from a moving boat (beware if you are afraid of the dark as the lights are turned off, a few children were crying). At the end you have the option to get on a boat or exit via the walkway. We queued for half an hour for a 5 minute boat ride. We laughed as we could actually see the exit stairs from the boat queue it's that short of a ride! Then a climb back up the stairs to exit the caves. Good clean toilets. Had a cool drink in the cafe. The bus stops conveniently outside with regular buses. Enjoyed the amazing caves but wouldn't go again it really is only a one off visit.

Thank you so much for taking the time to write down such a detailed review. Our caves are indeed very busy every single day, specially now that we are in high season. As you say, to take the small boat accross the lake there is usually some queueing to be done. if anybody doesn't wish to wait for it, you can cross the lake walking on the bridge. We are happy to learn that our facilities were convenient and well maintained from your point of view and we will try to take all youor feedback into consideration for future improvements. Kind regards.

I took down my original post because customer service at Cuevas del Drach reached out to me on my original post of not being able to purchase tickets online. They said to come to the Caves and purchase on site. We arrived about 10:30am, and took the 11am tour. We were very pleased with the tour, and the cool temperatures inside were appreciated considering the hot weather outdoors. They had clean bathrooms as well as plenty of shade to sit down or stand up in. They also have an eatery with lots of food and drink options. The tour is reasonably priced for families and only an hour drive from Palma and Alcudia. The tour has steps so if you aren’t used to climbing stairs then set your expectations and it’s totally doable. I want to thank customer service at Cuevas for following up on my review. We would have been disappointed if we had to miss them.

Worth a visit once but it's such a tourist place your herded round like sheep. Start off in a holding pen then all get through and told to keep walking by guides all the way round. Would be better if you could enjoy it longer. If you don't like crowds I would avoid it's absolutely rammed in with hundreds of people each time. The concert at the end was beautiful. You can cross the wee river at the end if you want to wait in a massive queue for a 30 second crossing or just walk. Stunning place to see but needs thought out better to allow visitors to appreciate the beauty of the place

Thank you so much for your constructive comments about our visit, Lindsay. Our visits have had this format for many years, it consists of 20 minutes walking in the cave, then there is a small, live concert, which we are so glad to know that you enjoyed. Finally, there are two options to end the visit, you can cross the lake with the small rowing boat or, if you don't wish to wait, walking on the bridge. As we said, your review is greatly appreciated and taken into consideration for further progress and improvements. Best regards.

The caves are gorgeous BUT it’s so, so extremely packed with people (300? 400?)I can easily see that turning into a human disaster. Hundreds of people packed in, with only one narrow way of access. This should not be legal. I could not enjoy the trip because I was literally afraid for my life and my family’s life. Just imagine a small incident (like a fire etc) how much panick would have that created!

We are truly sorry to learn about your disappointment with our caves. We want to assure you that the maximum capacities are always controlled, and under no circumstance surpassed. Also, the condition of the cave and its conservation is supervised and the environmental parameters are regularly monitored. We also have emergency plans in place and our staff is trained for any incident that may ocurr. Once again, we want to apologize for your negative experience with us and we hope we can change your mind in the future. Kind regards.

A lot of tripadvisor reviews nearly put us off going here, but wanting to experience these particular caves and the concert on the lake (10 mins), we decided to go anyway but prepare ourselves for the worst. Yes it was busy, even at 4pm, but despite how busy it was everyone was courteous. You shuffled through and could stop to take photos whenever you wanted. The ONLY time staff encouraged you to get a wriggle on (and they weren’t rude at all) was prior to the concert starting. At the end of the concert you can either walk across the bridge over the lake (less popular) or sail over the lake - wanting the complete experience we did this! The queue was bonkers, fortunately we were in the first 25% and we did queue for about 10 mins. The caves are truly magnificent and the concert was beautiful, a memorable attraction and worth the money.

We are so glad to read your detailed review! The Caves of Drach are a magnificent work of nature, and they have an age between 5 and 11 million years. As you say, after the small concert, you can either cross the lake on a rowing boat, which takes 200 meters, or cross it walking on the brigde. We hope you can enjoy the rest of your vacation in Mallorca! Kind regards.

Caves were great, large and vast, as well as the lake. Really worth seeing.

Undecided about the boat music, although it does show the vastness of the lake.

Glad they tell people off to turn phones off and not use them when sitting down and its pitch black, amazing how many people (and not youngsters) try to defy this

Thank you so much for letting us know your feedback about our caves! As you say, it is extremely important not to use any camaras during the concert, since any noise or flash of light can disturb the great atmosphere of the concert. Stunning caves, however we weren’t allowed to appreciate the formations as we kept being pushed by guide staff and lights were disrespectfully switched off, leaving us in the dark, to push us forward, towards the light.
I give 5 stars to the musicians, for the choice of the repertoire and for the quality of the music.
The boat across the lake was nice, but we had to wait at least half an hour for our turn , time that I would have preferred to use to appreciate the caves.
Too focused on the distractions (boat and music that we can enjoy somewhere else) and little value and time put on the valuable heritage.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. We are continually working to provide a good experience for our guests and regret that we missed the mark in this regard. We believe the 20 minutes walking along the cave leaves enough time to enjoy and admire the gorgeous formations and take some pictures. On the other hand, we are glad to know that the small concert was of your taste, and we will make sure that we pass on your comments to our musicians. Kind regards.

Having been to the Caves of Drach as a little girl many years ago and been mesmerised by the experience I was keen to take my own children. The vastness and beauty of the caves were as I remembered and the classical concert on water was unique and mesmerising.
However, the number of people allowed in for our slot ruined the last part of the experience - the optional short boat trip across the lake. With hundreds of people in our slot alone, the boats only each having capacity for 12-15 people maximum and with room for only one boat to collect at any one time, this meant a very long wait. This wasn’t helped by the fact that the queue wasn’t managed at all. We had actually booked into one of the later afternoon slots which were supposed to be quieter. I dread to think what it could have been like at peak time! For me, although we could have opted to walk all the way out, going on the boat was part of the experience. If maximum numbers in each time slot were reduced and staff were used to manage the boat queues, this would help enormously.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. While we are grateful for the feedback, we are saddened and disappointed to hear about your experience. Our goal for every visitor is to have nothing but a great experience here at the Caves of Drach. Clearly, we fell short of that goal for you and we apologise for that. Since we are already in high season, our caves attract many visitors every single day. Despite this, since the cave has enormous dimensions, the maximum capacities are very high. We apologize once again, and we would also like to use this as a learning experience to keep improving. Kind regards.
