We had read the story about of The Lovers of Teruel and this inspired the detour during our trip to visit this area. The Church, the Museum and artwork was very well done and the guide that showed us around during the tour was first class. She didn't speak much English but we managed with the audio equipment supplied. On... More

The painted church and the mausoleum are worth visiting. They also had an audio recording in English as all the placards are in Spanish, which is the only place we saw in Teruel with an English guide. There is also a nice cafe outside in the courtyard.

The first time visitor to Spain will not have heard of Teruel. Madrid and Barcelona are usually the favored destinations only because of the copious amount of publicity that these two great cities have enjoyed over time. But make no mistake, Teruel is more than a match in terms of a tourist destination. The city is very well maintained- clean,... More

Well presented museum but you are going to struggle if you don't understand Spanish. The corpses of the lovers don't look very romantic. reading between the lines the story also suggests that they probably died of the plague rather than a broken heart, but hey, why let the facts get in the way of a good story. Anyway they have... More

So why did I pay 4 euro to put my ear against a wall speaker, hear a little story, and see a carving from the 1950's? Managed to stay for a couple of minutes but would rather have thrown my money away than have contributed to this tourist rip off. We live and learn.

Definitely one of the most attractive domes you will ever see with the decorated ceiling stretching right down to the floor which I had never seen anywhere before . A most memorable experience not to be missed if you are in the vecinity .

We only had time to enter the mausoleum and missed the spectacular church next door. It is a quick, simple visit that costs 4 Euros. You enter, see a video about the history of Teruel and the mummies in the mausoleum, listen to the story of the lovers in any one of multiple languages and think of the parallels with... More
