We spent a few days in Agua Amarga; a place I have always wanted to visit. What a charming little village and beach. Frequented mostly by Spanish which suited us. This beach is beautiful, very nice sand and sea easily accessible. Loved this place, will return.

It's a 40 minute leisurely hike from the main parking area of Agua Amarga, and worth it. Both times we visited the water was calm and the crowds manageable even on a Sunday. It's possible to take boat tours to/from here as well as hike from the parking at Cala del Plomo.

We don't like the beaches in the village. To easy to get there and so crowded! We prefer quiet beaches. Cala de Enmedio is a quiet beach you can reach after a walk starting in the Agua Amare village. It's not that easy ... you have to cross a hill on a bad marked trail (look for the blue signs!!!). After 30 - 40 minutes walking you reach this nice place. Sandy beach, clear wather, nice surrounding! You find a mix of clothed and non-clothed people.

This beach is very beautiful, however, it is very crowded during the day at this time of year, so suggest getting there very early morning or sunset to fully appreciate it.
There are several ways to get there: walk over the cliff above Agua Amarga beach but not good if you get vertigo; walk around the hills by taking a track off left outside of the town (quite a hike) or taking a kayak, about 20 mins (but beware as the beach may be too crowded to pull the kayak in)
Take water as no facilities there and please do take all rubbish back home with you.
Enjoy.

A good walk to get here and most definitely worth it.
Cala Enmedio is a little cove accessible by foot or boat. We took the route from behind Agua Amarga - it’s a good walk but easily manageable with a 10 year old, tho you need to wear trainers/ shoes. The path was not entirely obvious to us and we had to ask passerby’s to ensure we were on the right track. It’s a little steep on the way down but again manageable.
The beach is such a great reward....a small sheltered cove, with gentle waves and soft sand and rocks to clamber on at each end.
Just remember:
Nudity is allowed
Take everything you need with you...water, food, sun shelter (you can find shelter at the sides below the hills).

Well worth the walk, but wear decent footwear and don't forget sun cream and water as there are no supplies on the beach. Good if you want to get your bum brown as there are a number of naturalist's who are on the beach!!

This is a gem of a beach very close to Agua Amarga.
You can reach it by a walk over the hill next to the beach but not good for those with vertigo.
Alternatively, rent a kayak for a couple of hours and get there easily within 20 mins.

This particular beach is reached from the town of Agua Amarga. We entered the path from behind the El Tio Kiko Hotel (They had parking for patrons but I'm assuming you could park for the afternoon there as well). When you begin the trek from this location you need to trek up the hill AWAY from the water - it may seems counterintuitive as you inevitably want to end up at the waterside. From here you meet up with the lone path to the beach.

Another point of entry to reach this beach would be where Calle Deposito meets Calle Embarque - from here you would continue on Calle Deposito up the hill. Once up on the hills you will walk for approximately 30 minutes until a descent is possible - the dirt track is quite worn and obvious. I recommend wearing running/hiking shoes as you would not want to do this trek wearing flip-flops.

This beach is a protected natural zone of the Cabo de Gata-Nijar Natural Park. For this reason there are no amenities available in the vicinity. You will need to bring your our snacks, drinks and umbrellas. Since it is a natural area, nudity is permitted and practiced.

This beach is highly recommended for naturists and those who can appreciate an unadulterated beach that feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Worth the walk from Agua Amarga, mostly along the cliff top although quite a walk down the cliff to get to the beach at the end (although you can cheat and take the car along a dirt track) or come by boat as quite a few do.
Clean, sandy beach, great water for swimming, sandy underfoot and quite shallow. No facilities so take everything with you.
Interesting that other reviews haven't mentioned that it is a nudist beach! On the day we visited about a third were nudists. Plenty of space, and sheltered between two headlands.
