We came up here to check out the route for El Fuerte, which is just behind Castillo de Lizar, its not easy to find. You have to drive out of town, and take a dirt road up winding around the hills north of Frigiliana. The...More

Frigiliana is an extremely busy tourist spot, but if you want the best of the village, just follow the signs to El Castillo. It winds up the narrow streets and steps, before eventually passing a splendid restaurant (the Garden Restaurant - closed on Mondays, unfortunately)...More

It’s not easy to find the access trail and in fact I think there are probably 3 alternate routes, with one being by car to the car park at base of final climb above a small reservoir. I walked up one trail and down another...More

We do a lot of hill/ mountain walking. The walk is fine and the views at the top are nice but there is simply a ruined wall of a castle at the top. Most importantly at the top there are two donkeys. There is a...More

It is just a hill, which is not a complaint' there was obviously a castle at one point. The views all around are stunning, making this a really worthwhile diversion! The donkeys are fine, just leave them alone and they'll leave you alone!

First of all, Frigiliana is such a beautiful village, that we visited twice in two weeks. It is simply stunning, with winding, patterned cobbled streets that twist and turn up the hills. Well worth the effort of the climb up the hill to the 'Castle'...More
