A major landmark in the area that dominates the plaza. It used to be the main centre for producing sugar cane molasses in Europe but now derelict apart from souvenir shops and a cafe that has moved from around the rear of the building.
The drive from Nerja was very quick and just as quickly we found ourselves looking out from above it all. The hillside perched homes are very close together and beautiful. The view from the square is fantastic.

The bar on the terrace with one of the best views ever, we often stay here for a drink and a meal, read our books and write up some postcards. Good meals and good wine, see you soon and thanks for the local information.
It's a great shame that this old sugar cane factory couldn't be properly restored & made into a museum. Instead it houses a couple of trinket stores selling ceramics etc.
The beautiful stone building is very photogenic, so much more could be made of this...More
