Built by a family of winemakers from the Douro, in 1751, Ferreira possessed a rich tradition and a prominent role in the history of Porto Wine. Dona Antónia Adelaide Ferreira contributed significantly to the consolidation of the brand. A legendary woman with a unique personality, who became a myth and a symbol of strength, facing the adversities of nineteenth-century Douro. Ferreira Cellars invite you to discover a brand over 250 years old, a symbol of the highest quality that encapsulates Portugal's heart and soul.

Certainly good value for the tour and tasting of three port wines. A very informative tour of the port winemaking process and a little history about the region as well. There are several Port cellars to choose from, but this one was great for us!

There are lots of Port cellars to visit and we chose this one due to it being one of the oldest, the guide was a young girl but she knew lots about the history of the cellars and also how the port is made, all questions were answered without hesitation. Not a lot to see but what you do see... More

After comparing reviews of various cellar tours, myself and a friend settled on Ferreira Cellars - as a Portuguese-owned producer from inception, it sounded more appealing than one of the better known port companies (e.g. Graham's, Taylor's). We booked 2 places onto an English language Classic Tour on the same day (at 16:00), by visiting the central (Avenida dos Aliados)... More

An interesting tour of a large producer with an informative guide. Not a lot of time to look at some of the exhibits, and quite a large group on the tour. However, the tastings at the end were good, and provided a chance to chat with other visitors. No pressure to buy afterwards.

A visit here is well worth it, a brand not known to us, but one we will certainly seek out again. A good variety of sampling menus to interest different palates. Friendly and informative staff.

Very informative and interesting tour. If you don't have that much time but you want to hear about Portuguese tradition of port making you should go.

Had read mixed reviews but decided to go anyway as it had been recommended as being a Portuguese-owned cellar. We found the tour to be very informative, well paced (1 hour) and the guide had excellent English which we appreciated. The information is similar to what you get on a tour of the Douro valley, but shows you a different... More
