It is so amazing place! Perfect for all day trip. The further you go, more beautiful the views are. Just take a water and sandwiches and go there! It is available for average person.

Ya know how sometimes you are thinking, this is was probably not the best idea? Thought briefly crossed my mind today while hiking the eastern point of Madeira. This windswept ridge is rather desolate and strung out. The wind at times literally knocked me down....More

I had looked forward to the SAM 113 bus ride from Funchal to Baia d'Abra so that I could explore the far eastern tip of the island but even on a mid-week early May there were loads of cars and streams of walkers marching off...More

A walk to remember quite arduous with many steps and a climbing trail . But if you are fit and can walk 8 km go for it. You will be pleased you did it.

We visited in May, 2018 and it was great! It is a 3-km walk each way, perfect for an afternoon. If you are walking with people with foot problems, there are some tricky steps but the overall challenge is not too difficult.

A good sticky/grippy sole is the most important thing here- some of the descents are slippery because of loose sand and pebbles. I wore low cut, light weight, water friendly Merrells with a vibram sole for all the hikes we... More

In the center of Funchal (Avenida do Mar close to Praca da Autonomia) take the bus SAM No 113. Then travel to the last bus stop in Baia D'Abra (ca. 1h:20min).
