Norfolk is quite dull, so to find this treasure was a great surprise. One could spend here tw- to three hours in a good weather. It was lightly raining, but still I couldn't avoid my curiousity to walk more.

When you arrive, take the tram ride around the garden to get a feel for the place. Very nice grounds. The huge Rose Garden is particularly impressive. If you have little children the kids area with the water park and fountains on a hot day...More

This beautiful garden offers much to enjoy. The highlight (for me) is the Butterfly House and Garden. You can learn much about the 20+ species of Virginia Butterflies and probably see a live specimen of each in the house itself.

This was surprisingly great despite the lack of fanfare upon entering. Took a few minutes to get here and not to the airport since they are so close and id really never heard of this garden before. Just a really great garden with a wide...More

Excellent rose garden. That alone is worth the visit. However, the Gardens have many attractive features. It is hard to take them all in in one visit, especially since many are at their best at different times of the year. A jewel that deserves to...More

My friend and I spent hours at the Gardens today..fresh air, sunshine and fairly warm. Not really crowded. The Rose Garden was just beautiful! Lived in Newport News for ever, but this was my first time here...won't be my last! Tram ride was awesome, too!

We've visited NBG several times, in different seasons. It's always beautiful, restful and interesting. Right next to the airport, it's also fun to watch airplane traffic from the rise. Beautifully landscaped, rich in history, architecturally designed for ease of walking and lovely viewing. We look...More

I went here with my daughter and two granddaughters. What a great place for the whole family! There are tons of things to do with the kids, and if it is warm enough, you can take your children to the wet play area. The plants...More

Yes, there is still lots to see even though it's not peak season. Right now the roses are in full bloom, but there's always something wonderful in the gardens, no matter the season. Hope this helps.
