A must see while in Norfolk.

This is where General MacArthur and his wife are interned. There is a library and history center that has vast amounts of information covering WWI, WWII, & Korea.

I visited the MacArthur Memorial as a work outing last year and was shocked. I honestly had no idea it was there - had never noticed it - right beside the mall - and I've been there more than 2 dozen times in the years I've lived here. I really enjoyed the tour we had arranged with an on-site guide... More

I learned so much about this man and our country during the time he served. I now have a better understanding of our country. We went back the next day with more people and it was just as enjoyable because there is so much information you can't pick it all up in one trip.

Well worth a visit, especially for a WWII history buff! We spent a couple of hours here and really enjoyed it! The General and his wife are buried in the rotunda and you can see the marble slabs covering the graves with their names on each one. There are several wings to the museum, each covering a different part of... More

I had no idea that Gen. MacArthur and his wife were buried there! I spent hours reading the fascinating stories of WWII and his accomplishments. Pictures, artifacts, maps and charts - it is fantastic way to spend your time while you are in Norfolk. Best of all, it is free. I strongly recommend this place!

We visitde this free museum twice. First with limited time available to see the collection. The second the film was watched. Preferably first watch the film as it makes it easier to apprciate the collection. Well displayed and with good (easy to read) comment. very good to understand this part of USA history

Both the museum and the memorial proper are very interesting. We thought 2 hours would be more than enough. Boy, were we wrong. Maybe I've become a slow reader, but I could easily have spent twice the time savoring the exhibits.

The MacArthur Memorial is in the centre of Norfolk about 5 minutes from the cruise terminal. Its worth a visit to see what this man did in the Pacific War against the Japanese. The Museum contains various personal items and memorabilia owned by the General and his wife. There are Photographs, various uniforms, insignia, painting, maps and the staff car... More

Doug MacArthur was given a Pacific War on the back burner and by the time we had defeated Hitler was on the brink of defeating Japan. He helped Japan get a running start to being one of the most powerful democracies around. Then kept the Korean peninsula from being completely overtaken. I only hope that he is still well remembered... More
