My wife and I stopped here on a day trip tour of the Salento. What a beautiful place. It was incredible to see the place where St Peter first set foot in Europe / Italy. The views are magnificent. We were only here for short while but are already planning a longer, return visit.

We travelled by car and stopped in Ville Di Santa Maria Di Leuca for lunch and enjoyed our break here, The town is pleasant enough with a breakwater and small harbour for fishing vessels, but the real scenery is the roadway down the... We visited the Lighthouse and Basilica in this charming port near to where the Adriatic meets the Ionian sea. It is well worth a visit and trip along the coast road towards Torre Mozza is lovely.,

If you have been driving all day, this is likely your destination. It's not really a breath-taking spot but it feels like you have reached some place. The piazza is open and shadeless, and on a sunny summer afternoon it feels like the Devil's Anvil. Find refuge in one of the coffee shops at the edge, or stop in to... More

This is a place at the end of the earth where the Adriatic and the Ionian sea meets. Sunny, quiet and beautiful.

Famous for the iconic lighthouse with its height of 47 metres high and position at 102 metres above sea level, it is the second most important lighthouse in Italy after Genova. Next to the light house is the large Santuary (Basilica) and the De Finibus Terrae (End of the Land) built to commemorate the passage of St. Peter here during... More

The old villas of S.Maria di Leuca are a beautiful site. Many different architectural styles were used, making me imagine that each homebuilder intended to out-do the other, however, there are only a handful of these colorful and fun villas. And, as far as I know, they are not open to the public, so you can only view from the... More
