To get to Burg Stahleck take a nice hike through the vineyard, up, up, up to the Castle. Provides a beautiful view of the city and river below you. This is about a 1 to 2 hour diversion.

Very Cozy village down the hill. Try out the old restaurant and the wine testing bar in the village. The castle has a great view over Rhine. Not fancy at all. Best thing you can do is to book in advance and get a small...More

Looooved this stop! Drove down the Rhine and stopped in at multiple castels. This one was great! This hostel allows visitors to roam the grounds and take pictures. You can pop in and use the restroom or grab a nice bite to eat from their...More

We stayed a Sunday night with our 11 and 14 year old. They said that was their quietest day. There were only six guests. Like having a private castle, so much fun. Family room was adorably castle themed with private bath and looked recently refurbished....More

We hiked up in the morning to find breathtaking views of the Rhine. The path was well marked and easy to find right in the center of the town of Bacharach

The castle is now a youth hostel, but you can walk around and seem much of it. It's a very steep and challenging climb up. The view about 3/4 the way up and at the top are very worthwhile.

Ok, the climb is a bit much, lots of steps from concrete, wooden, stone, sloping rock, but for the most part, there is a handrail. I have a height phobia but did ok, the views are spectacular! There is a break with a bench for...More

This is a must-visit place when visiting Bacharach. It`s about 10 to 15 minutes walk and hike from the town center to the castle. Enjoy the walk and the view of the beautiful houses along the way. The castle itself has been transformed to a...More

The views are well worth the effort of the walk. It is open from 7am to 10pm for drinks and food although it is really a youth hostel so do not be surprised if the peace is shattered by a group of children coming or...More

Sure. ..from the city centre you can take a taxi up to the castle. We went up by car, there is a parking spot next to the castle to park as well.
