This is a nice walk up, but a walk nonetheless. Not stroller friendly, don't even try it. It's 100 stairs just up to the ruins then stairs, stones, etc after that. The building was open and we were able to use the facilities and get...More

If you're staying or stopping in Bacharach, you must take the hike to the castle. The view of the city, with the river in the background, is something out of a storybook. Tip: For a beautiful walk, continue on up the road, past the castle...More

The view from the top of this castle is wonderful. Well worth the climb. You can see right across and up the valley. Refreshments are available at a cafe.

This is a must see in town and gives picture worthy opportunities. I recommend going at different times for lighting options. Very beautiful.

The charm of this castle is to stop at the remains of the cathedral pillars that are the only thing remaining of what must have been a majestic place to worship. The pillars are just interesting to view from all angles. The castle is a...More

Sure. ..from the city centre you can take a taxi up to the castle. We went up by car, there is a parking spot next to the castle to park as well.
