Leadership Tour

My Pennisula Leadership Group visited the museum last sp0ring. It was awesome, learning how they are restoring the submarine and the attention to detail was fascinating.

This museum is wonderful! If you like history and everything boats and ships, you will love this museum. It is family friendly with indoor and outdoor play areas for children, a large gift shop, and a sandwich shop. During your visit you can explore the beautiful surrounding area consisting of a nature trail, The Noland Trail, which goes around Lake... More

With a seasons pass you can visit all year. I was in the model ships section this this time. These ships were from the 14 the century, you have to see these ships to appreciate the craftsmanship. They even have short videos of the different types of ships. The tools they used to make the ships are very basic and... More

A museum based on the maritime history of the US is both educational and inspirational. The history walk through took you from the days of exploration; to the early American Revolutionary maritime warfare. The modern naval history section was interactive and entertaining. The highlight for me was the hall of miniatures where amazingly detailed miniature ships were on display. They... More

Lots of history to take in. Very well done exhibits of many things related to Mariners through the centuries. Plan on spending several hours if you are a buff. The information and exhibits about the Monitor Ironclad are exceptional.

Came for the USS Monitor, but was dazzled by the small boat collection esp. the Herreshoff. Larry Ellison's Oracle America's Cup winner is parked here, I hope they can raise some money because they are gonna need a bigger building! Nice grounds with an extensive walking trail around a tidal lake.

Amazing history of Hampton Roads and how the war affected this area. I would definitely recommend setting aside a few hours to really take in everything!

Had not been for several years. I was so impressed with the quality of the displays and the thoroughNess of the information. We were there 3 hours and did not see the whole museum. The children that were there seemed to enjoy the participatory activities. Highly recommend.

I had the opportunity to tour the Mariners' Museum in Newport News, Virginia for the first time on February 9, 2017. The museum was very interesting, all of the exhibits were well done, and the docents were very knowledgeable. Overall a great museum!
