Such a beautiful little fairytale bastide town. Amazing views of the Dordogne. Relaxed and friendly atmosphere. Grotto is superb with a lovely lady guide. There is an English translation fot those of us who cannot speak good French. Visit and stay for lunch! Don't miss the jewellery shop of Mr Charles Duret. A charming and very talented man.

Domme, is a beautiful hilltop village and the Information Centre can provide a very useful map to do a self-directed walking tour. The centre also sells tickets to the grotto beneath. Staff are friendly. Domme was settled more than 800 years ago, and being on top of a steep hill, was easily defended. It developed during the middle ages and now attracts tourists to its narrow cobble stoned streets and charming stone buildings. We took about two hours strolling from one sight to the next and enjoying looking in the many small shops.

This office provided all types of information, not only about Domme, but also the surrounding sites in the area. Written material in English was available but they were also able to answer specific questions about the area.

The tourist office is located in the centre of the little village of Domme. Make sure you obtain a walking map as you will not want to any of this lovely village. Try and avoid market day as it does get very busy in the morning and will detract from the village. There are panoramic views over the valley below. Plenty of lovely old cottages and houses together with interesting shops, asmall church and places to eat and drink..
If you are in the Dordogne you must visit.

Such helpful and friendly staff.
They gave me a lot of useful information as well as a town map showing a walking trail that took us to a lot of interesting little roads.

You must get tickets to visit the prison at the Tourist office. They were kind enough to escort us to the prison (locked and you can't find it alone) and provide us with English info sheet. There was so much more graffiti than I expected.
