We did the Puma Walk which, despite the lack of pumas since 2002, was worthwhile. We didn’t see any sloths but we did come across a bee (I think), a group of Howler Monkeys, and some White Face Monkeys (is that their actual name?). One...More

You are in Granada already, so this is a must see area. Enjoy the lake and the volcano views and if you are seeking more adventure take a guided trip to the Mombacho crater. Whatever suits you, this volcano and its surroundings is gorgeous!!!

It’s an amazing ecosystem in the cloud forest up the Volcano- it’s a lovely trek with a local guide pointing out the wildlife etc. The only problem is at no point when buying the ticket were we informed that 85% of the time the thick...More

You can reach the volcano by "chicken bus", so cheap, from Huembes market or UCA in Managua to Granada/Masaya line. From Masaya market take the bus to Catarina (Laguna Apoyo viewpoint), pass it and ask to stop Mombacho entrance. The entrance fee for foreigners is...More

I don't recommend walking up, it's a very difficult climb! But the hike around the rim is lovely with great views.

From the base we took a 4 wheel drive to the top,(because it's very steep) then went on a 2 hour hike around one of the craters. The trail was fairly well maintained, with lots of nice pictures to be had. You need to be...More
