We were 4 adults who each paid $25 US for a 90 minute workshop. The guide was very knowledgeable and we enjoyed this learning experience. However, another person first sat close to our group to listen, then decided to join the activities, without paying, and our guide never said anything! On the contrary, he started to include the intruder in all activities, and all tastings. I felt it quite unfair. Charge us less if you are going to let others join free.

Went in to see museum and had a coffee and very rich hot chocolate. Museum itself is small and free. Some guides were coming in and there was a lot of chanting and energy. Sounded fun! Choco-latte.
Can buy lots of chocolate products including bars, liqueur, skin products, cocoa nibs, cocoa tea to name a few.

We made a brief stop at Choco Museum while travelling in Granada. We were given to taste 3 or 4 different liquors made of choco. Most interesting thing for me was a choco tree grown at the back yard of the museum. Bought some products at the store. Overall, nice visit.

The staff is energetic and explain chocolate with enthusiasm which makes for a fun environment. I had a hot chocolate one day and it was pretty good though I was concerned that there was no hand washing sink visible. I also registered for their chocolate making workshop and was the only participant. She did not wash her hands or clean the counter we worked on, and I wasn't given an opportunity to wash my hands either. What was supposed to be a 90 minute or so workshop was just 45 minutes.
My recommendation is to do their quick & free tour where you just tip the leader, and skip the workshop.

We took a fantastic chocolate making class with Kenyn! He was very enthusiastic and passionate about sharing the history of chocolate. This workshop was very hands-on with plenty of tasting along the way. Great for kids and adults alike. We had some children in our group and Kenyn was AWESOME with the kids and had us all laughing the whole time. Well worth the visit! Really nice gift shop and cafe as well. I’d say it’s a must see!

Very calm and relaxing, it is the touch I was looking for outside of my work and home, my wife very devoted to the unique drinks with chocolates they prepare, a bit expensive for nationals if they want to expand, national breakfasts and very delicious by the way. Nice room, super affordable price and good service in the bar, restaurant and chocolate shop. The room needs to have a better smell and better check-in and check-out protocol... and yes! We will return because of the privacy and warmth of the place.

As a museum, the place is amazing. Interesting info about both production process, origins and history.
I loved the taste of raw crushed cacao beans (which they allow to taste). However, jfyi, the 100% chocolate bar they sell tasted nowhere near it, it is still buttery and sugary compared to the raw ones. I would say it tastes much closer to the usual 70% one. Brownie also tasted the same as in a good cafe.

We really enjoyed the bean to bar workshop with Antonio, who was an excellent host. There was some interesting history and making our own hot chocolate/chocolate bars was good fun. Antonio was a fun guide and brought the process of chocolate making to life.
As a side note - we were going to hang around the pool but it didn't look in particularly great shape (not like the picture above)!

Such good fun, amazing tasty chocolate and very informative.
Our instructor for our chocolate making class Kenny was brilliant fun, he got us all really well engaged with the class. Lots of information and we had a “fun test” at the end to make sure we had listened!!
The chocolate bars we made were so tasty... I chose sea salt and marshmallow flavour... amazing!!

We agree with some previous reviewers that just a few poster boards telling the history of cacao and chocolate don’t qualify to be a museum. When we asked the cashier if there's anything else to see, she said no. So after walking around for 10 minutes in a premise that looked more like a café or a souvenir shop, we ordered a few glasses of cold chocolate, some mixed with maize, perfect for a sunny day in Granada. Yet the drinks were too watered down and way below our expectation from a chocolate specialty store. Having read on blogs that we should try their products to decide if we like it before signing up for any activity, we conclude that this self-described museum is simply a tourist trap in a country that isn’t among the top ten exporters of cocoa beans (no wonder why its other outlets are located in such tourist towns as Antigua, Cusco and Punta Cana).

I agree with you - "ust a few poster boards telling the history of cacao and chocolate don’t qualify to be a museum". That´s why ChocoMuseo in addition to having displays (not just "poster boards" about the history of cacao and chocolate) also has sections devoted to the cultivation of cacao, and the fabrication of chocolate, and a minii cacao plantation where visitors can see actual cacao trees bearing cacao pods, and also offers workshops in which participants prepare their own chocolate from bean to bar. The "maize drink" you seem to describe is a typical Nicaraguan drink, "pinolillo", which, it is true, typically is more corn than cacao, but is not "watered down"; seems like you should have had our pure cacao cold drink which generally is very well received. And you are correct that Nicaragua is not one of the top ten exporters of cacao in the world, but it is not clear why that reflects on the quality of Nicaraguan cacao; the fact is, much new cacao is being planted in Nicaragua to meet the increasing world demand, and growing conditions for cacao are excellent in parts of Nicaragua.
I´m sorry we did not meet your demanding standards; I noted that 60% of your many reviews on TripAdvisor are in the category of Average or below.

Is it necessary to request free airport pickup if arriving in MGA later in evening or does shuttle run on a regular schedule?

That is a good question. I am not certain. Once we cleared immigration & customs it was about 9:30pm and there was an individual out on the curb coordinating loading onto the shuttle. Once you leave the secure area and exit the terminal the shuttle pickup is on the right. I had tried to email the hotel in advance to advise of my arrival but the emails never went through. This is a popular hotel for individuals arriving in MGA and I suspect late at night they know when international flights arrive and send a shuttle to meet flights.
