When our tour began it was pouring down however Jorge, our tour guide who you can find on the left side of the Cathedral in a little pop up stand, was attentive and very well informed about the history and current owners of most islands...More

Amazing homes, monkeys, men and boys fishing. A chance to sit down after walking. The ride to the boats is interesting and the young boy selling his handmade items very cute.

Got a guide at the end of the beach road, took a 4-hour paddle through the islets, even "survived" a refreshing rainstorm. Fantastic experience.

We went again - and one never gets tired of the spectacular view of the isles! 4 schools there - so much more fascinating to see where the real Nicas live rather than the newly arrived wannabe

We took a short hour or so boat tour with No Rush Tours (David). The isletas are beautiful and worth seeing how some indigenous people still live. We saw monkeys up close on one and some really neat other private islands. Also saw some beautiful...More

We hired one of the locals and four of the 20 seats on one of his boats to tour the volcanic islets in Lake Nicaragua. It was worth the couple of bucks to stop at the old fortress for photos and a pee.

We asked around in Granada for the island tour and finally found the best price at Pachamama. They charged $15 a person and the tour lasted about 4 hours. This included a bottle of water/soda, a cocktail and a pickup at our hotel. When we...More

You should be able to negotiate a tour of any length. The guides seem more than happy to make a little more money.

You bring US. You can change your money at the bank or exchange from street corner vendors, they're pretty much at the same rate as banks. ATM's will give out one or the other, local or US.

The guides will help you in and out of the boat but they are pretty steep. There aren't many of them though, maybe ten steps or so on each isleta. It wasn't a physical excursion at all.
