- crazy-travelerNew Delhi, India113 contributionsJai Mata DiWell today we went to this beautiful temple which located at height of 1530 meters above sea level. One side you can see holy city Rishikesh, second side City of Dehradun and rest of the side Himalayan snow capped mountains. This is one of the 52 Shakti Peethas of goddess Sati. Please be aware of naughty monkeys so have your Prasad wrapped properly in a bag. Only two basic shops for tea and coffee along with Maggie rest Prasad shops. On the way back we had Maggie at one of the view points around 2 kms from the temple which has really good view.Visited January 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 22 January 2023
- Kumar B4 contributionsA divine experience on top of the mountain!A must-do experience in Rishikesh! Our car picked us up from our hotel at 5.30am and we reached the temple at the top of the mountain at 6.30am. Just in time for a lovely darshan of Kunjapuri Devi and breathtaking views of the sunrise and the snow capped Himalayas in the distance. Not too many people visiting at this early hour and the entire experience (along with hot chai) was simply divine. Steps leading to the temple are very steep so please take note for senior citizens.Visited January 2023Travelled with familyWritten 31 December 2022

I have been going here for over 20 years and taking many groups there. The temple has not been kept up and is in total repair. The custodians of the temple have a lot of money and should put more love and financial backing towards repairs. Not on my must do list anymore.

Book a taxi in advance from Rishikesh market taxi stand. Leave 1.5 - 2 hours before sunrise, i.e. around 3:00 a.m.
The sunrise from this point is an amazing experience

Mata Kunjapuri Devi Temple is a Shaktipeeth and hence very important among temples in India. The road to the temple is very good and a car takes about 1 hour from Rishikesh centre. At the temple one has to climb about 300 steps. Not very difficult as they have made rest points at 100 and 200 steps. At 200 steps there is a small shop for water or cold drinks.
The temple is not so crowded and one can have good darshan. One can also ask the Temple Purohit for a small puja.
The place gives a majestic view of Rishikesh hills.
