My experience at the Living Yoga School was incredible. Every instructor is kind. The instructors put in an amazing amount of work during the lessons. The school serves wholesome, home-cooked meals. I had an amazing time studying Ashtanga yoga. I consider myself fortunate to have begun my yoga journey under their guidance. I wholeheartedly endorse the school.

- Dishonest beginning

We booked our 200H teacher training course with Yoga Living School. After being collected from the airport we were dropped to a different school called: Vinyasa Yoga Academy. During my initial contact with the school it was agreed upon that we would be in the Yoga Living School which was based on the other side of the river, an area we had researched and wanted to stay in. At no point were we made aware that we would be moved to a different school.

Talking to others in our group, we found out that this had happed to almost everyone. This company owns 4 schools and most students in our group had signed up to go to the World Peace Yoga School. In fact, only 2 of the students in our group had signed up for the Vinyasa Yoga School. The rest were sadly lied to.

Additionally, our group size was around 25 students. On booking, I was told the class size would be 10-15 students.

Based on the information we received from the school we made our decision, sadly we were not given true information and felt like they would say anything just to get us to sign up. We imagined something very different from a spiritual centre, it feels like a dishonest business.

I made a complaint to the school on the first day: no discounts, refunds or otherwise were offered. Only an apology was made.

- The noise

This for me was probably the worst part about staying here. All night packs of dogs barked and howled. It was unbearable. Even with the use of ear protection, the dogs would still wake me at night. It was a common complaint of many in the class. I understand this is outside of the schools control but I am writing it as a warning to any light sleepers.

- The food

The food was okay. According to their website it is sold as healthy food. Sadly, I would not consider the food as a whole as healthy. Nearly always very salty, oily and lacked a lot of freshness: limited fruits, veggies etc.

A suggestion to the school would be to add options for brown rice/fruit/veggies/nuts.

Overall it felt that offering the cheapest food was the focus, not health.

- Morning self meditation

Most days only a couple of people would show up on time, the rest would arrive throughout the meditation, resulting in constant opening and closing of doors, people rolling out mats, getting their books ready etc etc. On top of this the dogs would still be howling and barking as it was before sunrise. It made for a very noisy meditation.

- The course

Overall the course lacked a lot of structure. It felt more like turning up for yoga classes than it did an organised teacher training course. The teachers weren’t aligned with each other, some teachers over worked, tired and sometimes complained about their very busy schedules. Although knowledgable, some of the teachers lacked teaching skills. It’s one thing knowing how to do everything for yourself but it’s a whole different skill knowing how to pass that knowledge on to others.

The group gave this feedback to the guru, but sadly nothing changed. We were told to do more self study and not have any expectations of the teachers. We came here to learn how to teach from experienced teachers, get guidance, not to take regular yoga classes.

In my opinion the group size was too big for one teacher, it was difficult for everyone to feel like they were getting enough/personal attention to ensure they were in the correct positions. This complaint was made several times but was only ever shrugged off.

Please note, although advertised there was no/minimal meditation practice included.

- Religion

Something that is not mentioned anywhere in the course details is how heavily rooted it is in religion. I was not expecting prayers at the start and end of each class. For anyone not following the Hindi religion they should offer alternatives, to implement the benefits of chanting to their future practices/classes.

Other modules are also deeply rooted in the Hindi religion and not relevant to modern life.

The live classes of this 200-hour multi style teacher training were well done and very informative. They are a very important part of the program. They give the program a certain framework and students are able to ask questions and get clarifications immediately and clearly.
The schedule I did find a bit confusing at the start, because of the detail of “Philosophy (only Saturday)”. First I thought that the Philosophy class would only be on Saturdays, soon I realized that they were in fact every day, so I thought that the (only Saturday) meant the other classes were not taking place on Saturdays, when in fact it just meant that only the Saturday Philosophy classes would be live sessions and the others were recordings. So after a week I had it finally figured out ;-)
For the rest of the material it was great to have 6 months time to complete the program. I’ve been doing yoga for about 25 years, but only now, after attending the online Living yoga school Teacher training am I able to fully integrate it into my everyday life. Through this training I also got the confidence to lead the very Yoga group, which I had attended for 20 years myself, as there new teacher. So all in all it has been a truly life changing experience for me.

This was a lovely traditional hatha course with some great asana teachers and a very good natured team. The self paced online nature was a real bonus as were the live hatha lessons and the affordability of the course overall. I appreciated gaining a deeper understanding of hatha principles from Indian experts in the field from a non-westernised point of view. I would have preferred more structure/focus to the philosophy lessons however - learning objectives would have helped.
Also bear in mind that as this is a traditional hatha course, the anatomy lessons cover ayurvedic anatomy not MSK functional anatomy. Depends what you are looking for from a course.

I booked 200-hr Multistyle Yoga Teacher Training back in December 2020 as a reason to have more personal development in my practice and learn more about the theory behind meditation, pranayama and asanas.

I had a strong spiritual connection to my Spirit during my daily yoga practice but this teacher training leveled it up. I gained so much wisdom that was beyond the practice. Now I have much better understanding of my breath, and I have learn to observe life from many different perspectives which could not be possible with just any teacher training.

The information was well put together. And since there was a possibility to execute the training in a way which was self-paced and online it fit into my busy work schedule.

I recommend this teacher training for anyone who wants to really get into the roots of yoga and learn from supportive and proffessional teachers. You'll find that that your every day life gets easier and you'll be more heart-centered as you finish your training!

The 200h YTT Course with Living Yoga School has been much more then expected at all levels. I want to say a big THANK YOU to the whole team, thank you to Guruji for opening the whole world of the Himalayan tradition of Yoga to us, the fantastic philosophy classes and meditation teachings, the connection and support I could feel. Thank you so much to Devesh for being such a competent, supportive and motivating teacher, for sharing not only hatha yoga and alignment knowledge but also knowledge of life and for sharing with us what really means to be a good yoga teacher. I can´t wait to go to Rishikesh and learn with them in person. In this almost 2 months process I started to see clearer into myself and make some important changes in my everyday life, developing more awareness, focus, discipline and joy. I was at first sceptical about an online format, but since the beginning I was really impressed with the online live teaching, the communication, the way everyone was supportive and experienced as well as the quality of the recorded material: so much knowledge and everything so well explained. I could write much more about how inspiring the whole experience was and how much will positivly influence my practice and the understanding of myself.
I recommend this School to everyone!

Generous teachers that take their time to teach you and share their knowledge. A great way to feel part of a community through a pandemic. Feel grateful for everything I have learned and inspired to continue my path of yoga.

I recently completed the RYT 200 hour self paced multi-style yoga teacher training course with the Living Yoga School. I found the teachers to be very knowledgeable, approachable, and a pleasure to work with. Lots of reading material and informative video content was provided and I was able to review and practise at my own pace. I recommend this course for anyone who is also working juggling full-time work/career. Thank you!

I had already done a previous course with their sister school Samadhi Ashram back in June on the 200hrs Kundalini YTT. The course was amazing that I decided to train with them again as I knew that Yogi Vishnu and Yogi Ashu would be teaching. I knew I would be in good hands, and I was not disappointed. Everything is thought out and very organised as I was doing the self pace course. The bonus with the self pace is you can choose to watch the videos and assignments at your own pace. Which is good when you have other commitments like work. You can catch up in your free time and the videos are there for at least sixth months, which is good if you are not sure of something and you need to watch it again. You do have live classes and if you can’t make them they are always uploaded for you to watch when you can. All I can say is thank you to the amazing team for putting in your energies. And making this course work and helping us students transform our lives for the better and leave this course with better understanding the true meaning of Yoga. So we can go out and teach Yoga to others and ourselves. I am so grateful to be part of a wonderful experience yet again. Under the guidance of Yogi Vishnu. To say a big thank you to all the admin and behind the scenes staff that made these courses work online. Thank you to Guna and his team you are all amazing and so helpful. I can’t wait to come back home to Rishikesh. Hari Om Tat Sat
