Neelkanth temple is located about 26 km. from Rishikesh town and 22km from Aloha resort. The belief goes on that the Lord Shiva had meditated under the tree here after inhaling poison during Samudra Manthan. The neck of lord shiva is worshipped heree. The place is offbeat and needs about an hours traveling. Though are many temples. This one is more popular.

While there are two ways to reach Neekanth Temple one by tracking and another for vehicles but I will say if you really want to enjoy and found true happiness just go track. Track path is a bit difficult compare to Vaishno Devi track and little ruff to track. Still it has maximum build road by cement. It will took... More

There's long way to trek before temple, roads are narrow and view is scenic. the locals seem to live in paradise.

it is just a wow place. you need to have 3 hours for visiting this place from Rishikesh. you can hire a jeep or car.

Neelkanth Mahadev temple is different than the temples in Haridwar and Rishikesh. It is little over one hour drive into Himalayas from Rishikesh. Enroute you find quite a few resorts specializing in river rafting, canoeing and water sports. But do not get distracted and keep driving into Himalayas for another 45 min and you will reach the temple. Lord Shiva... More

It's a good temple, pretty peaceful. It takes almost 45 minutes to drive up, then you have to walk a little ways. It's not wheelchair accessible. Great views.

We visited Neelkanth Mahadev for sunrise and trek organised through our guest house. Up at 4:30 am to been on our 4 wheel drive ride up the hill at 5 am but it was well worth it. Takes about an hour to get up there and I'd like us you do it in winter you had better put those layers... More

Roads are pretty dangerous not recommended to drive in the dark. but temple itself is great, need your own vehicle,
