We were suggested this place bya friend who visited in 2020. This place is also known as Baba Kalikamliwala Ashram. It is on the east river bank of Ganga river.
believe me, we were flabbergasted with the place. We booked a fully furnished air conditioned one bedroom kitchen apartment after a lots of efforts. It has to be booked ONLINE ONLY and the decision makers are based out of Calcutta.
But, it was worth all the efforts.
You have to go to the canteen for your breakfast, lunch and dinner. Food is very economical.
The whole place is full of life.
Our flat no.316 was very close to River Ganga. hardly 100 mts.We attended Ganga aarti for all the seven days we stayed there.
IF YOU JUST WANT TO REST IN CLEANEST ENVIORNMENT, DO YOG EVERYDAY, AND HAVE A TIME OF YOUR LIFE, YOU MUST VIVIT THIS PLACE.
By the way, for young people who want to roam around to visit other attractions like Laxman Zula etc. 2 wheelers are available on rent. Rs 500 per day !!!!

Swargaashram is situated on the east banks of holy river Ganga in the lap of the lush green Himalayas in Rishikesh. It is very near to Ram Jhula. The ashram was built in the memory of Swami Vishudhanand, the saint better known as Kali Kamli Wala (the saint with a black blanket). Swargashram is very popular with foreign and Indian tourists, because of its ethnic touch. Devotees stay here in a clean, pure and sacred atmosphere with beautiful gardens. They can take part in Yoga classes, morning prayers, meditation classes, satsang and evening Aarti.

Narrow streets with numerous shops on both sides, selling everything from clothings and souvenirs to musical instruments. Also get a 4x4 taxi from here to Beatles ashram for 100 rupees return!

You need to walk to get to this place. Follow the road for 1 kilometer then turn left. On entering go through the first gate then look at the map they give you, otherwise its a bit confusing. Very interesting, even though now its ruins. Good display of photos, one can easily spend 2 hours here.

Swarg Ashram is also known as Shri 108 Baba kali Kamli Wale Swami Atam Prakash Ji situated in picturesque surrounding and the left bank of the Ganges between Rishikesh and Laxman Jhula. The area is also known as the “Ground Zero” which is surrounded by Ashram and Temples and the spot where from ages of yore the famous yogi and rishis have been doing the Tapasya from the ancient times.

I had heard a lot about this place and thought it to be one dharamshala or a guest house but realised only after reaching Rishikesh that it is like a tourist district, who come here for a variety of reasons. Youngsters come here "To have a good time", which was disclosed by a tea vendor. He told us that on all weekends, there is a shortage of cigarettes and condoms.

Elderly come here to seek peace but are looted by various Ashrams, which are lined up here. End number of able bodied persons, wearing saffron robes were seen begging on the streets, which shows their unwillingness to work.

It is better to stay near bus stand and come here for a street photography session or just a stroll by river Ganga.
