Find solace through Yoga practice and Meditation
Jun 2019
The most important thing is the courteousness and helpful attitude of the entire staff including instructors. Secondly, the environment for learning is just perfect. Thirdly the mix of participants, which includes both Indians and foreigners, is highly enriching and beneficial for learning new facets. The professionalism and patience displayed by every instructor not only helped is assimilation of the knowledge but kindled a spark to continue the practice even after completion of the course. Whilst the rooms per se may not be five-star standards but were fairly good. Only vegan meals are served, which was tasty and a great experience in itself. Availability of instructors during meal times (everyone has meals together) offered an opportunity to interact and seek clarity on many a issues which would otherwise have gone unanswered view paucity of time. Overall a great experience.

OUTRAGED!!! Diwan Singh Bisht of Iyengar Yoga Mandir, Rishikesh. Refused Registration for Yoga Class due to my Age!!!
Sep 2018 • Solo
I had Registered online for the Yoga Class in November 2018, that would be taught by Diwan Singh Bisht, from Iyengar Yoga Mandir in Rishikesh. In the application form along with address contact details etc., there was a date of birth and age field, which I filled out appropriately - my age being 62. However, since I do not have any chronic aches and pains, I did not list any medical conditions, since I am a healthy individual and a yoga practitioner as well.

I received a response a day later to say that, due to my age, it is not recommended that I take the class for the 10 day period since the class entails approximately 5 - 6 hours of asanas - there was not even an email to ask whether I do have any specific ailments - this was an outright email against 'AGEISM'.

Does this mean that people of a 'certain' age, and I am not sure where Diwan Singh Bisht person draws the line, is it 60, or is it 55??? And how does he decide that a person is not qualified to take the course? Was not B.K.S. Iyengar a proponent to teach Yoga to anyone of any age, and especially to people who are suffering from any illness that could be helped with Pranayma, Yoga and meditation?

Also, since I am non-Indian national, the fee for the course was more than what was advertised in the website - about 17,000 Rupees more than what an Indian National would pay.

I am outraged by both the above mentioned aspects - 1. AGEISM (assuming that someone over 60 should not be doing Yoga?) and charging more for non-Indian nationals!

Practice with prashant ji
Mar 2018 • Solo
Its going to be a year since i started learning ashtanga yoga under Prashant sir. His teaching did not start with asana. He started yoga by teaching us discipline. Each day he wanted us to be in shala at 5 am sharp if you are late you miss the practice that day As time passed by the body started to lose its stubornness and fit into a daily ritual of getting up at 5 am. I went to lots of physical and emotional pain but it does not matter you must in the shala at 5 am each day After months of practice not only my body but mind became stronger I sincerely thank him for his wisdom its a blessing to me.As i am growing I will be continuing to be studing with him.

Best alignment classes in Rishikesh
Dec 2017 • Solo
The Ashtang classes taken by Prashant sir deepens your knowledge about the asanas and the philosophy behind the practice. His He incorporates his learnings from Iyengar yoga into the class. The instructions in the class helps a practitioner as well as a beginner to understand the basics of asanas and body anatomy. Focus on correct posture and alignment adjustment helps to shape your yoga journey.

A truly amazing school for proper yoga experience
Feb 2018 • Solo
While in Rishikesh, I found Yog Vidya School and I guess I couldn't have chosen better. The atmosphere, approach, dedication and true interest in the student is remarkable. And most of all: Prashant Ji is an exceptional teacher - devoted to teaching, knowledgeable, attentive and eager to shere his wisdom with the students. Yoga is a beautiful but complex practice and it really makes a great difference if you manage to find a proper guide who will lead you into the right direction, to grow and develop. I can surely rank Prashant among one of the best guides I ever had in that field. If in Rishikesh, feel invited to check for yourself :)
P.S. And a big bow to other members of Vidya Family, esp. Ksenia and Hemant :)

High quality classes
Feb 2018 • Solo
I’m grateful for the opportunity to participate in the ashtanga vinyasa classes at Yoga Vidya School during my stay in Rishikesh. Prasantji and Hemantji are putting their very hearts into the teaching. They guid you through the ashtanga sequence by giving detailed instructions for posture alignments, adjusting/modifying according to the practitioners’ anatomical attributes and level of experience.
If you are looking for classes with precise alignments in a focused environment with professional, humbled teachers, you may have found it now :)
I’m going to be back there for sure!!

Exceptional teacher
Aug 2017 • Friends
It was by total chance that I discovered Prashant’s class but it turns out that I was rather lucky.
I have been practising Ashtanga for only about a year and usually it’s quite challenging to find a new shala where you comfortably fit into while travelling.
Prashant really is that exceptional teacher who can make even a single class extremely valuable. I dropped in for a few led classes during my short visit in Rishikesh but am planning to come back for a more extensive course as I know I would benefit greatly from Prashant’s knowledge and long standing experience.
