Fort has the modest palace of Ahilhyabai along with the various beautiful temples further down towards the ghats. The famous Rewa society with the beautiful Maheshwari silks is housed within the fort.

This is a gorgeous place, and I'm rather surprised that it is not more well-known. Fantastic carvings and situated right on the river bank. If you want, you can easily hire a boat for a small trip on the river.

Imposing set of steps leading up the the main gateway of this magnificent fort! Cattle, goats, people wander about, shiva lingams dot the ghat. Low key, but lots of steps that are daunting to the weak and impossible for those with bad knees or hips!

Narmada river is considered sacred like the ganges. This fort is in the banks of river narmada and sitting around in the evening or early morning in the banks is an amazing experience.
