I fall short of words trying to describe the beauty that this place is. The Ahilyabai Ghat is located on the bank of the Narmada which is flowing in all its grandeur here at Maheshwar. And the ghat showcases what is easily one of the grandest Indian palaces located along a river bank, the river being the revered Narmada which... More

Little known, but absolutely gorgeous, neat and clean, non-interfering locals, this is Varanasi how it would have been 100 years ago.

Relaxing on the ghats of the Narmada river at Ahilyabai ghats was a great experience. Both, the sunset as well as the sun rise can have a calming effect on an individual.

Peaceful. One must hang around there. Morning walks are wonderful. The best part is that there are not much of religious activities or 'Karmkands" here on these ghats. No pandas.. no one to bother you. Go for boat rides. Sahastradhara must be visited. Boats take you there. Not expensive.

This is India! There is a small Shiva Temple at the west end of the ghat. Chanting and drumming begin at about 5 PM. Local people gather, chant and pray. You can get the Shiva mark on your brow if you like, for a 10 INR donation. Just sit and experience the scene!
