Even if you don't care much about George Washington, this is still a lovely place to sit and enjoy nature. It's one of the greenest places I've seen in a while, and there's so much room to allow children to run around, play, and enjoy the sunshine!

For better reviews, see Mount Vernon. Washington's birthplace, which I have actually visited is not here, but near Colonial Beach, VA, a number of miles a way. This actually Mount Vernon

The vaults of George and Martha are set back and protected by a small open building. The setting and materials for the burial sites were specified in Washington's will. There are two other large monuments of important people in front of the vaults, which makes for a nice setting.

This was found on the grounds at Mt. Vernon. It has a vault with George and Martha in state. There are monuments with information on them and about their lives. Such a peaceful feeling of serenity around the area.

Geo Washington birthplace. A large estate well kept. Informative museums. And his home is amazing A must see. Be sure and go to gristmill and distillery. A lot of walking accessible and worth it to to wharf and the barn.

The Park Service does a really good job with a short film as an introduction to the culture when Washington was growing up. The tour of the birthplace was informative and interesting while giving us better insight on what it would have been like to live during that time period.

The listing for this national monument is Mount Vernon, Virginia, but that's incorrect. The Washington Birthplace National Monument is located on Virginia's Northern Neck, near Colonial Beach and Westmoreland State Park. We spent about 90 minutes there, and could have stayed longer if not for the heat and humidity. There's a small visitor's center with a 14 minute video that... More

This is a free National Monument that is a lovely spot with much history about George Washington and his family. He was born here and lived here until he was 4 years old. The orginal house no longer exists, but you can see the foundation outline of the home where he was born. In the visitors center there is a... More
