My friend and I decided to visit the Lynchburg Museum after lunch in town. The museum had a quaint and old feel to it as it once was the court house serving Lynchburg. There were a lot of exibits neatly packed in this building that is historic in its own right. At the time of my visit there were quilts... More

I went back in January of 2016. They had a quilt exhibit that I could have spend the entire day looking at. I thought it was amazing they had traveling exhibits to be a smaller museum. When I was there they also had an exhibit on the slave trade which was also so informative. It's multi level so I would... More

If you are interested in learning about history of the area, then I would make a stop by the Lynchburg Museum. It has multiple floors offering a variety of artifacts and displays. It is not massive, so will not take long to look at everything.

This museum is a great way to learn the local history of Lynchburg. Starting off from way back in the 1700's and the initial exploration, unfolding and conflicts of America you are then taken on a journey through time until the present day. Along with the main exhibit are several art rooms, world war sections and a Lynchburg Fire Department... More

This is a great place to go and learn about the rich history of Lynchburg. They have many of different displays. The staff is also very knowledgeable on all the history if you have any questions. I'd say allow two hours to go through the whole museum which has three different levels. So if you live in Lynchburg or just... More

We stopped in the museum while doing a walking tour of the town. It is well designed to display the collection of artifacts from the area and give a quick synopsis of the history of the town. It's not a "destination" museum, but if you are in the town it is really worth the visit. Personally, I even enjoyed the... More

Great museum to see the history of the city. It's right in the heart of the city and it's free. An hour should be sufficient time. Lady at the front desk was very kind and helpful.
