This has to be one of the coolest ideas ever. We spent about 2 hours on the kids play trail and could've been there much longer if the kids weren't hungry and tired. It's a wide open space in the woods with tons of cute things for kids to play with. There's a mudpie kitchen, a creek, a canoe, several tunnels to walk through, a tree house that looks like a giant birdhouse, a bone pit that kids can dig in and so much more. This is absolutely worth a trip out of the way to see. And we didn't even have time to see the rest of the park. The best part is it's free. We will definitely be back when we are in town again.

I really enjoyed this place and wish we had given ourselves more time for the visit. Wear pants and sneakers. There are paths through the woods, across water ways. Interesting little areas, a fairy home area (alas, did not see any fairies). It is tucked out of the way, but I really enjoyed it. The map really does not help much at all. Wander around, follow the pathways, have fun!

My wife and I visited Boxerwood Nature Center for the first time. Will need directions or GPS to find the Gardens. Interesting nature area as to the history of why it is developed. Still needs a lot of work, especially finding your way around. Maps are provided but still not clear pathways. Very haphazard. Not as well maintained as I would expect. Good for evening walk in the summer.

Bring the kids and a change of clothes. This place is definitely for families who want the kids to let loose in nature. Tons of things to experience and see.

I have enjoyed 2 birthday parties at this nature center. Lots of running room and fun for children. Great outdoor place.

We visited the gardens in the afternoon. We were treated and given a map to visit the various areas. The grounds have a variety of areas and many interesting trees and plantings. It was a very enjoyable and relaxing visit. We look forward to visiting often to see the changes in this beautiful natural setting.

I love that private property has been turned into a nature preserve. Such a great idea. Small parking lot, honor system payment box, reusable maps, and a restroom hidden inside a small, old "visitor center". It's not actually a visitor center, as no one greeted us, we searched awhile for the restroom, there's no displays, and just a tiny table with only a couple pamphlets. A few trails around and throughout the property, open fields, butterfly garden, large old trees, wetlands, benches along the way, children's play area. We were a little confused with some of the trails, even with the map, we became turned around. The park is absolutely beautiful. Nice place to escape, breathe in fresh air, listen to the birds and frogs, and just relax. I highly recommend.

We have been coming to Boxerwood for several years. We love the mud kitchen, canoe, and bone dig areas the best. After all our visits, this is the first time we have been that is had a very unkept feeling The grass was high and the weeds were out of control. The kids didn't venture past the bone dig area. Make sure you take lots of bug spray if you wander around too much.

My husband, son, and I spent 2-3 hours here one morning after hearing a friend rave about this place-- and we were not disappointed. As a nature educator, I have to say this place is an idyllic wonderland/ dream world, and if we all had the chance to visit Boxerwood and places like it more often, we would have a lot more well being in our world. The children's play area is perfect and my son did not want to leave, though we dragged him out to explore the rest of the grounds, which he also enjoyed. The grounds are large enough to feel like you are exploring, but not too large as to make you nervous you will get lost. I loved the magic of it all, and the peace. If you are expecting formal gardens or entertainment, you will be disappointed, but perhaps those with such expectations need this place even more than the rest of us...

Decided to take the kids and dog for something to do while in town. It was a beautiful day out making it making the trails nice to walk on. It reminded me of nothing more than going to local park but it still was nice and relaxing.
