We more or less stumbled into the Lee Chapel, but were surprised by how much we learned about Robert E. Lee. Wonderful tour and don't miss the museum downstairs.

Beautiful church and grounds right on Washington Lee University. Very impressive area. Locals were friendly and helpful. Road construction was going on when we visited so was difficult to get around Lexington without being stuck in a line of traffic.

Exquisite chapel and informative museum on gorgeous campus of W & L University adjacent to VMI. Interesting insight into post-war Lee. Well worth including on a trip to the area. Friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating staff. Glad I went.

See the simple yet fascinating architecture of Lee's Chapel. Centerpiece is marble statue of General Lee in repose. Learn about Lee's successful career as a University President following the Civil War. And for animal lovers, visit Traveler's final resting place just outside the chapel.

The staff here are very friendly and helpful. They were great with our little kiddos! The "tour" of General Lee's tomb is quick, yet informative. The small museum offers a lot of information, is self-guided and they had a scavenger hunt for the kids.

It was very interesting to learn of RE Lee's impact on the liberal arts college in Lexington that now bears his name. I am personally grateful for the elective system that apparently started with his vision. The museum was very interesting as well.

As a history buff, this was a natural stop when I was in the area. Very nice tour guides and a decent museum below. The guide by the front door did an excellent job putting everything in perspective. No entrance fee, though contributions are welcomed.

We arrived just as a tour was starting. The chapel is no longer serving as such but rather used for groups of less than 500. The tour guide answered all our questions and gave us a good understanding of the college as well as the...More

You have the Chapel. Then you have Lee Chapel. You have an historic spot with well knowledgeable stall, and then you have the fun people down in the gift shop. Definitely worth your time.
