A part of American History

Final resting place for General Jackson and his family. It's a beautiful cemetery full history. It's close by other attractions and worth a stop why in town.

We went and it was very cold and windy. The cemetery is full of old graves and its very well kept. Stonwall jackson and his family share a plot right in the center with his statue on top. Very nice on a warm day to walk through the whole place.

200 year old cemetery is fun to amble through. Jackson family grave at the focal point - not much to see or read on site though.

One can not visit Lexington without visiting Stonewall's grave. Well kept cemetary, and the cemetary is filled with heroes from all wars.

As we strolled towards to middle section of the cemetery where Stonewall Jackson is buried we began to see Lemons. Rumor has it the old bigot liked sucking on lemons.

If you're a Civil War history buff then this is a must see stop. Stonewall Jackson's grave is marked by a large monument in the center of the cemetery, and is surrounded by his family members (and the lemons that people bring to leave on his grave). The reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is because there is no... More

Be sure to pay your respects to the General when in Lexington. Don't miss both his tomb stones, one where he was originally buried and then moved to the present day monument. Don't forget to take a lemon, he loved them.

A great spot for reflection and paying respect to Stonewall Jackson and others resting here. No matter ones take on history this is sacred ground. Many leave lemons at Jackson tomb in his honor believing correctly or not he really liked them.

While small, the Stonewell Jackson Cemetery and grave is lovely and within walking distance of downtown Lexington. Driving paths wind through the trees and headstones, some quite old. It sits above a rise and is peaceful and solemn in honoring its dead.
