Im tent camping here for a week and it's been great. The park is well maintained and clean. Hot showers and clean bathrooms. The staff has been very helpful and friendly.

Husband and I had reserved a pull thru RV site for 4 nights. We came home after only 1 night. The state park is beautiful. There is a nice fishing pier, adequate boat launches, and a well-maintained swimming area. So if the only thing I wanted to do was launch a boat or swim and/or play in the water, I... More

I am sorry that your visit was not what you were expecting. We have very few parks where campgrounds are right on the water. The primary reason is that the water is often the focus of most of the park activities. Unlike private campgrounds our parks are designed for outdoor recreation so we usually do not devote the water's edge... More

Wonderful place to explore our natural surroundings. We were given a brief description of the various trails and what we could expect to see that day. The actual hike was relatively short, but quite enjoyable.

This state park is a gem. It is so well designed and is located right on Smith Mountain Lake. The beach is very nice and there are boats to rent in season. There is also a snack bar and shaded area to eat. There is a cost to enter the park and also to use the beach-but it is very... More

Early in the camping season so there were plenty of sites to chose from. Sites were clean and camp host was friendly. Trails were nice, play ground was well kept. Only real complaint is there are not many areas for families to shore fish. Would love to see them get some full-hookup sites.

Visited friends this weekend who LIVE on the LAKE, even though it was rainy, my friend and I decided to go do some hiking at this nearby park, what beautiful albeit wet and muddy trails, didn't matter cuz I LOVE rain and the lake was gorgeous.. really want to go back in the spring and see it all again

We spent a day hiking and swimming at the park. We liked it so much that we went ahead and put a deposit down on renting one of the cabins next year. The beach was clean and the water was still really nice for swimming even being mid September. We look forward to coming back before Labor Day next year... More

My sons and I went to the beach area and hiked on of the trails. The beach was very well maintained, the changing areas were clean, and I loved the small snack bar there.

Fine as VA state parks go. Good place for camping. Nice place for fishing. Fine place for picnicing. There are better places to recreate on the lake for sure but if you are looking to camp, then it's a good place.
