Stopped to give our kitten a breather from being in the car for 5 hours and we are so happy we did. What a wonderful place. There was a Civil War room that included a video and maps. The gift shop had a very nice selection of pottery and candy. I couldn't resist the Rock Candy sticks! The bathrooms were... More

We must have spent 30 minutes or more talking with staff. Very helpful and informative and a joy talking to. Also sat through a short documentary offered. Great center with cafe/bakery included.

The folks were very helpful, we got a good bit of information; learned about the civil war in the area, got some coffee at the snack bar, and we were able to park conveniently in their lot.

Hardesty_Higgins House Visitor Center if located in the middle of town. It occupies a typical federal style building it shares with a very good coffee shop. This as pleasant a building and enterprise there is in Harrisonburg. Manned by lovely local ladies.

We were looking for a restroom stop other than a fast food/gas station, and this place has very clean restrooms! Tons of information on display about the area, and a little cafe (highly recommend the orange-cranberry scone!). Also, a gift shop (which we avoided because we had a toddler with sticky fingers).

Stopping in on a whim, we discovered an extremely knowledgeable, friendly representative who shared interesting information about the Harrisonburg area. There is an excellent film depicting Civil War battle movements, a little gift shop, and even a snack bar. It was a very pleasant visit, well worth the stop.
