We came across this museum after taking a short bypass off the interstate on our way back from DC. This is a small private museum with an enormous amount of artifacts. One that caught my eye was a letter from Robert E. Lee to a...More

We are glad that you enjoyed our museum. As I often tell people, we are your grandmother's attic. Gen.Lee stopped at Lucy Buck's home on the return of the Army of Northern Virginia after Gettysburg. The girls entertained him by singing some songs while he...More

A lovely lady gave us a lot of info. We arrived earlier than the official opening time but still got a warm welcome. A great example of southern hospitality

They definitely overcharge $5 each for this museum which is basically one room of memorabilia. I suppose they have no other way to keep up such a museum in here parts but I think a donation only fee would be more welcoming. I've paid that...More

I am sorry that you think we overcharge in our admission fee. We are privately owned by the Warren Rifles Chapter, UDC. We believe that the cards on the exhibits explain the items. Each staff member can answer some questions that the public may have....More

The museum is basically just one big room, but it's packed with Civil War artifacts, particularly items with a local connection. There are several uniforms, plenty of weapons, accouterments, documents, etc. My personal favorite was a pair of Mosby's spurs. Lots to see for Civil...More

We spent less than an hour here, but read some interesting history. It's next door to Belle Boyd's cottage and two other museums. They don't all have the same hours of operation, but if you plan your stop right, you might get several museums at...More

Thank you for your response. We all close at 4 pm, but we open at 9 am and I think they open at 10 am. If you are here at 4, generally we do not push you out the door, but allow you to complete...More

This museum is squeezed between the Ivy House and the Balthis House on Chester Road and costs $5 to see the museum. It is just one room that is jam packed with items and cases. Everything is well labeled and I was able to take...More

I am sorry that you did not feel that our admission fee is a reasonable price. Just about every $ goes to pay expenses or upgrade our physical plant. We are fortunate to have volunteers that permit us to keep our fee at $5.00. We...More

We appreciate your review. As you say, we are only a short walk away from the Visitors' Center. Your walk followed the route of the Union soldiers who were around the Train Station as they were forced to retreat. Many people think of battlefields, they often...More
