We visited Barren Ridge Vineyard as a member of Harvest Host in our 39 ft RV for an overnight stay. We were greeted by the owners Angela and Rob who gave us a history of the property and their vineyard and wines, We were treated to a front row table overlooking the beautiful vineyard and surrounding mountains. We shared a bottle of Cabernet with a cheese plate and bought bottles of their Riesling to take home, I highly recommend stopping here for the Great Wine and Beautiful scenery. The owners are great hosts and you will not be disappointed.

During a visit last month to Staunton, Virginia we decided to check out Barren Ridge Vineyards, and we were glad we did. The winery is in a pleasant rural setting not too far from major roads. We enjoyed our tasting of their dry wines. The winery has some great blends and is one of the few U.S. wineries to grow the Portugese Touriga grape. We found that wine flavorful and interesting. We definitely purchased a couple of bottles of this along wiht some of their very good Meritage. There was a very welcoming wood fire just feet from the tasting area, and we took advantage of it on this nippy winter day.

We visited the vineyard during their annual Nordic Fire Festival on February 1st. We were greeted to efficient staff, good food and pleasant entertainment and surroundings. The prices depend on what you order and how much. Definitely would return to enjoy the scenery.

We stopped at Barren RIdge and we pretty much left. You could purchase a glass, a bottle to drink there but no tasting of any type could be done. I asked and was told no and that is pretty much the way it is going to be. We had been at several other wineries in the area the day before and earlier in the day that were offering flight type tastings as an alternative and it worked pretty well with the Phase 3 and COVID concerns. I guess we could of just taken a chance and bought a bottle but we would prefer taste before making a purchase. Didn't really have the chance to find out much more. Not sure if children are welcome there but I personally feel wineries are for adults not children.

This winery is literally on a ridge. The views of the valley are amazing. They have a lovely patio as well as cozy interior seating. There is live music multiple times per week. The wine is reasonably priced and good! A lovely setting to sit and relax for a couple of hours!

Looking for wineries in the Shenandoah Valley? You have to try Barren Ridge! A great location with an amazing view. Lots of wines to choose from. We tried a flight each of White, Red and Sweet. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable about their wines and how they are produced. Highly recommended.

What a gem we found when we came to Barren Ridge. It’s a beautiful spot, spotless clean, overlooks the vineyard, outdoor seating, massive stone fireplace, very friendly staff, even met the owners wife who shared the history and made us feel right at home. We purchased a bottle of merlot, a locally made cheese ball, a fresh locally made baguette, and decided to bring home 2 more bottles. It was delicious. Thank you for a lovely evening, what a beautiful spot to enjoy the full moon.

We like to visit vineyards when we travel, have a tasteing flight, enjoy the ambiance, take some bottles home if we like the flavor.

This vineyard has the advantage of a patio with an exceptional vista of the Blue Ridge Mountains as you look over their vineyard,

We were favored with great weather, so we took our two tasting flights to the outdoors and got the full experience. I will note that all of their wines are quite dry--a little too dry and harsh for my tastes in general, but that's a matter of taste, otherrs prefer that style. We did come away with a couple of bottles of their Merlot and their Red Barren blend, the two with the gentelest finish and fruity range.

Then on to the next tasting flights.

This was our last winery stop of our day. Beautiful surroundings. Nice outdoor patio. Nice selection of cheese, crackers, salami, etc. my only complaint would be that they are not offering tastings, wine flights, or wine by the glass. You have to purchase a bottle in order to try the wine. We got lucky and liked the bottle we ordered but had we not, it would have been a waste. I wish we could have tried more than one wine offering because we likely would have purchased more wine to take home.

4 of us stopped on our way to Shenandoah Valley and purchase a bottle of Rose to share. It was absolutely delicious. Nice body, depth of flavor. It was a French style Rose. They grow their own grapes and have a beautiful setting to enjoy the wine. Because of COVID they are not offering tastings which concerned us because it was our first taste of Virginia wine and we did not know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised.
