The playgrounds were fine and the beach area quite clean; however, this park is oriented for boaters and has relatively few trails. This is great for a daytrip, but without a boat some of the great attributes are not fully enjoyed.

My wife and I decided to see the state park after eating at a pizza place. We were not impressed with anything we saw. An empty parking lot, a few trucks and boat trailers near the launching ramp. We went in another direction and found...More

We spent a couple of nights here - in our Airstream at Camp D, which has electricity/water hookups. The spaces are fairly close together, but it is well designed so you don't feel like you are on top of each other. The park is fantastic...More

This state park is centered on Claytor Lake, a beautiful setting in SW Virginia. The marina has a wide variety of rental boats and floats at reasonable rental pricing.

Please keep in mind we love State & Nat'l Parks and are in the midst of a coast-to-coast St & Nat'l Park trip. While we find VA State Parks to be very clean w/nice facilities, we also find them to be pricey for out-of-state residents....More
