I discovered the perfect venue for a future celebration! It is only a short drive from DC - Blue Valley Vineyards.
The facility is one of the most beautiful I have seen. In addition to award winning wines and views, the hospitality is outstanding.
Several areas are available for private events, elegant or casual, large or small. Drink service of your choice may be privately arranged.

We've visited Blue Valley at least twice in the last year -- pre-COVID and during COVID. The views from the winery's hilltop location span three states and provide an impressive and attractive vista. We liked several of the winery's wines during tastings, and we've taken home their Celebration wine in anticipation of this Christmas. The interior of the winery is spacious and modern, but do take advantage of the outdoor views to enjoy your wine.

My wife and I had been to Blue Valley twice before, but neither visit was spectacular. The building and the views are some of the nicest in Virginia, but the wine has always been epically average.

Today we had a friend with us today and needed to kill some time from the end of our reservation at Delaplane Cellars (5:00 PM) and dinner with another set of friends at 7:00. Google shows Blue Valley closing at 7:30, so this seemed perfect. Google can be wrong however so I asked my wife to call and double check. She checks Blue Valley's website and the home page said the Winery closes at 6:00 through March 31st, today April 11th. She looks under the Contact Us section of their web page to get the 0hone number to call and check. There it states the 'New Hours' are Saturday and Sunday until 7:30pm. We figured that since their website said these two things, surely they were open until 7:30 and decided no need to call.

WRONG.

We sidle up to the bar where we are told they are only doing bottles or glasses because they close at 6:00. My wife mentions how we saw online that the closing time was 7:30. Our server tells her that Google can be wrong to which she replies that yes, Google said that, but so did their website. To be clear, we weren't trying to argue for a later closing time, just that their website said something different and we are not "those people" who show up at a winery 30 minutes before closing. We were apologetic. He asked then if he could take a picture of her phone when she pulled up that their site said 7:30. We proceeded to order a bottle of Prosecco as we figured the three of us could finish it by 6:00.

We take our bottle and go find a table. We lasted about 30 seconds there before moving due to a large group with a bunch of kids running all over gods little acre as well as another woman with a very large dog (we love dogs, just not inside a cavernous building with about as much sound deadening as a B-52 running all 8 engines at full throttle) that would not stop barking.

We leave this side of the winery, past two full grown adults passed out on the lobby couches, and about a 7 year old child watching over them, to a much quieter albeit much dirtier location. It was at this point that another gentleman, in Blue Valley's employ, came over and mentioned they were closing at 6:00. Again my wife mentions that we wouldn't have come if their website said that but it clearly stated they closed at 7:30. This man proceeded to tell how how it says they close at 6:00. My wife shows him the 7:30 closure time under their "contact us" section to which he replies "What does the home page say? Most people don't look past the home page."

Seriously, WTF? How is it professional to argue about something that is clearly wrong on their website? She pulls up their site again and goes to the home page where it states that they close at 6:00 through March 31st. Nowhere on their site does it say that they close at 6:00 starting in April.

Between the argumentative staff, the website spewing misinformation, the complete lack of care from the staff about cleanliness and sleeping patrons sprawled out on couches, the nondescript wines, and not to mention the doors of death (French doors with nothing through them but a 20 foot drop to a life as a paraplegic) at the far end of the tasting room, this is absolutely a winery worth passing by unless you are in the mood for an afternoon of bewilderment from three of your five senses.

My wifes 52nd birthday we had a group of 12 who were looking to visit the wineries. Between being vaccinated or having had COVID recently the group was fully protected. Regardless we had a very hard time securing a reservation at many VA wineries, some even had a maximum of 6 policy that I tried to make 2 reservations and they declined us....common sense out the window. Point being that Blue Valley took us in and treated us wonderfully. The setting is gorgeous, the facility is amazing and the staff were AWESOME. Special shout out to our host Laura, our pourer Cade and Emily and Adrienne who made sure we had everything we needed. We will be frequent guests of Blue Valley and will NEVER visit those that treated our group as some type of affront (I won't name them but i should). Thanks BlueValley!

Make a wine commensurate with your wonderful location, view and surroundings. The 2015 Rememberance Red is horrible. We will not be back.

We experienced the seated wine tasting during the pandemic. It was nice to actually be able to get a tasting, but it was a decent sized group so it took a while. We had to pay ahead of time to reserve the tasting and received a gift card for purchase at the winery. My only real complaint is that there was no gluten free options for the food offer than cheese, so my husband had to eat plain cheese.

The location is quite attractive with impressive vistas in all directions. There is plenty of space both indoors and outdoors, and parking is ample. There were very few people there on the weekday in September we visited. You may bring your own picnic.

Unfortunately, the flight tasting was not available during the weekdays at the time of our visit. This could have been made clear on the website. We then settled for one bottle of Chardonnay and one Syrah to go around the table. Comparing with some 20 VA vineyards that I have visited, this one offers better than average wines, and a good variety too. Prices are also reasonable. Service was friendly and professional.

Visited on a Saturday in the fall. Absolute stunning views of the mountains. Vineyard and venue itself is gorgeous, well laid out, plenty of space, you can bring your own food to eat in or outside of the venue. There was a band playing and overall just a great atmosphere. It does get crowded but there is plenty of space to spread out.

We had a lovely tasting with Ken. It was a little fast but we learned a lot and especially enjoyed the Viognier and the Cabernet Franc. The views especially from the balcony eating area were very nice. We will go back.

Blue valley winery is this year’s main sponsor for the polo matches, but it good anytime. It is not often packed like the winery across the road, but the wine and service are great. Usually have some specials on two or three bottle sets. Beautiful views-calming effect.
