King Family Vineyards is a family owned and operated winery located at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in Crozet, Virginia just fifteen minutes from Charlottesville. The winery specializes in the production of ultra-premium wines that showcase the remarkable quality and terroir of the Monticello AVA. Beginning with carefully selected estate grapes, winemaker Matthieu Finot creates wines inspired by the old world, but are uniquely expressive of Virginia. Our passion is the customer, our craft is the wine. "When you visit our winery, you are coming to our home. An Outstanding Winery Experience
My wife and I spent Valentine’s Day at King Family Vineyards and we can’t recommend this place enough. We had a Reserve Tasting with James and the experience is something that we won’t soon forget. He walked us through the history of the winery, and how there was some good fortune in getting into the wine business, as well as various details of their wine productions and the countless decisions that go into the art of making each wine. While many VA wineries have turned to self-tasting flights (which they also offer), it was refreshing to have a more personalized wine experience. We have visited many wineries throughout the US, and King Family Vineyards with their diverse line of wines is now one of our favorites. If you’re looking for wineries in the Charlottesville/Crozet area, then this is a must visit. Trust us, you’ll be happy you went.

TOP RATED VINEYARD & WINERY IN VA. POLLO ON SUNDAY FAMILY & PET FRIENDLY
Wonderful experience in Virginias Wine Country. Excellent wines served by the very nicest & friendly staff. Beautiful mountain views to behold while relaxing with friends & family. All facilities an extremely clean & sanitary which is important these days. Pollo on Sundays is spectacular event & is family & pet friendly. We have been to all Central Va Vineyards & we feel KING FAMILY VINEYARDS at the TOP of our list to recommend to family, friends & visitors. Very enjoyable atmosphere!

We visited King Family Vineyards on our last day in Charlottesville. The vineyard is hopping with activities, and very crowded at times. We did two wine tastings, and the tasting flights come with Riedel souvenir glasses. There were food trucks there the day we visited, and we enjoyed those as well. The winery has some unique activities, and is very family oriented. We would visit again.

Excellent summer afternoon wine tasting!

Our family group of 8 went to King Family this afternoon for the $20 pp private tasting. We all agreed it was well with the money. We had a room to ourselves with a dedicated pourer — Jeidi — who was wonderful: knowledgeable, fun, and clearly wanting us to enjoy ourselves. She might have slipped us an extra taste or two. Most of King’s wines were excellent or very good, especially the Crose (rose), Meritage, Chardonnay, and Roseland (white blend). Their new Vinho Verdi, though, needs some work. The location is beautiful, on a polo grounds, and the facilities are first rate.

Need Better COVID Control!!

OMG!! We walked in and walked right back out. The place was overcrowded and the small wine shop WAS NOT social distancing and was overly crowded. There should have been better control on the number of people in the building at the same time. We witnessed a few vehicles that brought large groups - 5 to 8 people - and I'm sure that contributed to the overcrowding. We never got to sample the wines.

RUDE !

Although the setting was beautiful and the wine enjoyable….the gal at the counter was SO RUDE! We told her we were visiting from California and asked which tasting flight she recommended. She said “ Oh, you’re California wine snobs” Completely un called for. Paid for the tasting but no desire to purchase wine to take home Will not be going back

Average experience in a lovely setting

This is a lovely venue (although it was pouring rain when we visited.) However, I've visited, toured and tasted at many vineyards and wineries - at best, this tasting was an average experience. 1) The wine is served in tiny plastic cups; one can't sniff or swirl the wine to catch the aromas. 2) They will not give you water to help cleanse the palate between wines; one must purchase a bottle of water. 3) Their sheet that describes the wines gives very little information. If one wants additional information, they offer a "guided" tasting for extra money. The wines are good but not exceptional and one isn't made to feel especially welcomed here.

Beautiful views and great wine

Great wine and lovely views. This was one of our favorite winerys in the area and we went to a few. Appreciated that there was plenty of seating space and a variety of options. We were relying on the food truck that was supposed to be there for food and didn't bring anything with us but the food truck didn't show that day. Thankfully the shop has plenty of nice snacks you can purchase for a picnic but highly recommend bringing your own as that seems to be what most people do :) Reserve Chardonnary available at the time was our favorite wine.

It really is that good

It seems almost redundant to write a review of King Family Vineyards. Tasting was wonderful. Our server was able to tell us about the wines and direct us to wines not on the tasting list that would interest us. The wines were amazing, the views and setting were beautiful. All of the reviews are right, this place is a fantastic stop

Reserved Tasting with Jaidy P.

First, I would note to anyone visiting to prepay and reserve a wine tasting (there are different types), this will make the world of difference in your experience. We opted for the “Reserved Tasting”.

This was our last stop of the day and it was by far our favorite tasting. My high recommendation comes in part from the wonderful wine, but is principally attributable to our “wine guide”, Jaidy. Jaidy’s notes really illuminated her passion and extensive knowledge about wine, in combination with her sparkling personality it made our group not want to leave. She is an absolute gem. I‘d recommend King Family for the sole purpose of having a tasting with her or, if possible, having a group split bottles with Jaidy for her conversation and insight into the wine. As a group of equestrians, the only disappointment was not catching the horses in the stables or a polo match.

Beautiful, relaxing , good wine

We made 4 stops on a wine tour and this was our favorite. Beautiful grounds with picnic tables on the lawn. You can bring your own food here.

The wine was good and priced nicely by the bottle. The tastings are also a bit cheaper than some other wineries.

Staff is friendly and helpful. They saw us pull up and came out to greet us- and it was just the two of us.

One of the best wineries in the Charlottesville area

King Family vineyards not only have good wines, but perhaps one of the best properties to enjoy yourself at. The staff were welcoming and helpful from the time we came in the door. After we had our flights of wine, we sat outside on their lovely patio overlooking the polo grounds. I would have a difficult time thinking of a more relaxing place to enjoy some wine.
We finished our flights, then took a walk around the grounds. It would have been a wonderful place to watch a polo match or to spend a lazy afternoon. I would recommend King Family vineyards to anyone looking to visit a winery in the Charlottesville area.
