    Beautiful beaches
Miles of beautiful beaches, dunes, woods, marsh areas. The beach is gorgeous. At the old ferry landing we saw the horses in the marsh. We met a couple who saw horses when they crossed the bridge and they saw some on the beach which they had to walk along ways down the southern beach to see them. If your hungry or need gas most of these are back towards 113. There was a beach shop with a Cafe that served coffee, tea, desserts and sandwiches. Then there's a gift shop mini market that served some good fast foods. But that's all we saw on the way. It's very far away from everything. But it's beautiful.

    Nice experience
The scenery and horses are beautiful. You can access the water in numerous places. Some are educational with park guides to help while others are the beach. There was a good wait to enter but once in it was easy to get around and park. Horses just doing what they do. Clean and a few shops if you need or want things.

    Highlight of our driving tour.
Took the Cape May - Lewes Ferry from New Jersey to Delaware and on to Maryland. Learned of this state park and federal park online. It was a bonus trip and oh what a bonus it was. Privileged to see many groups of wild horses and the beach was very nice with shower facilities. One of the best highlights of our five day driving tour from Kentucky. Recommend this very highly. So much so, I will make it a point to visit from the Virginia side as soon as I can.

Great example of a National Treasure
Spent several days visiting the area & made several trips onto the island from Chincoteague. Quite a variety of things to see & do - hiking, boating, beach activities & of course, the ponies. We were here during the annual penning of the ponies & saw them multiple times & locations. Great fun & a lovely visit. Even if you just come for the beach, it is gorgeous. Tons of birds - both forest, marsh & sea.

    Great place to visit
Great place to visit if you enjoy wildlife. I have been coming here ever since I was a kid and it’s less crowded than the beach in Ocean City. Great place to bring your family. Also it’s a great place if you enjoy taking pictures of the night sky.

    Our favorite
Assateague is one of our favorite places. Forget the hustle and bustle of Ocean City and enjoy this beautiful beach full of wildlife. The wild horses even made their requisite appearance! Be sure to stop at the Visitor Center. Their two movies about the island, the horses and their history are worth watching.

    BEAUTIFUL!!!
Positively fantastic! First visit to the National Seashore. We were lucky to see the wild horses both coming and going. What a wonderful sight to see them grazing in the marshes and walking along the roadside. (A mare and her colt!) The seashore itself it beautiful. The beaches are clean and the sound of the ocean is so calming underscored by it's vastness. A word of caution though...watch out for the horse poo...there's a lot of it (their house, their rules), but step carefully lol

    Great beach spot
Always a great vacation on the island. Beach is less crowed than the city beaches. Nature trails with boardwalks and displays. Bayside access for water activities. Horses. Deer. Birds. Hiking. Biking. Swimming. Keep food secure and away from horses. And do not approach the horses.

    Beautiful
We stopped here on the way to Chincoteague. We plan to visited the VA side of Assateague when we get there. While we were here, we drove around the entire park and were treated to seeing ponies wandering the campgrounds, trail parking lots, and even on the road. We stopped and walked a lot of the shorter trails. I would have loved to have stayed longer. There is a beautiful beach at this park. The bathroom facilities are clean and well maintained.

Take Your National Park Lifetime Senior Pass With You For Free Entry
Despite a November Saturday we had excellent 60+ degree weather with lots of sun. We did see a couple of horses and a couple of deer. Overall spent 3-4 hours enjoying the area. The main part requires payment but we had our lifetime Senior Pass with us and got in at no cost. They check IDs to match the pass.

Rangers were friendly and helpful at the visitor's center and clean bathrooms were available. Started our visit by driving down to South Ocean Beach. On the way, we saw a few ponies, but they were pretty far away. Beach was nice, with a few broken seashells. Next, we drove to Ferry Landing, but there wasn't too much to see there. We stopped at Marsh Trail and walked that loop. In that area, we saw a few ponies up close – but not too close. Next, we drove to the Bayside parking lot for a beautiful sunset. Perfect ending to our day!

Most amazing sea shore I have experienced on the Atlantic coast. Took the ferry from New Jersey and had never heard of this place. Amazing drive and very cool place. I cannot wait to visit from the other end.

The island, even though it's a state park, is kept under wraps. you are not free to bike or go out and do what you want or explore how you want without their regulations, which are very strong. Other state lands you can hike, bike and explore however you see fit. The info on the horses are portrayed in a inaccurate manner and misrepresented. Take it from someone who grew up with horses and trained them for a living. They just try to bubble wrap stupid people...
