It looked like they served a great meal. We just stopped by for an afternoon break. We had a beer and a wine and the beer is a much better choice for the metal cups. Seemed like a fun, welcoming place with good service.

Tavern and it's history was worth a short trip but otherwise not impressed. The restaurant was crowded and overpriced($18.50, they usher you in and didn't see a sign until had already selected food!). The 'buffet' consisted of: Cole slaw, beets, fried chicken, green beans, black...More

When you are visiting Charlottesville and go to Thomas Jefferson's home, Monticello, be sure and leave time for lunch at Michie Tavern. You will be served by waiters dressed in clothes from the 1700's, and the food is similar to what Mr. Jefferson would have...More

So we just walked into and toured the buildings but did not do lunch due to time constraints. We loved the Michie tavern gift shop with lots of "period" related items. My kids loved picking out games and books on our Founding Fathers. There is...More

Who doesn't like fried chicken, pulled pork, southern-style veggies, biscuits and cornbread?? Go to Michie Tavern! Good food, good service, great historical setting, there is nothing not to love. Great start (or interlude) in a Charlottesville history tour.

Although we've eaten here before this is my first review. The place is very authentic to the late 18th century, the wait staff is superior and the food is good. Don't expect gourmet! This is period specific and very tasty. However, it's southern cooking, which...More

They have cole slaw. You must pay for the full meal even if you only eat the cole slaw. It is $18 adults and $11 children plus dessert is extra.
