Overview
More
In 1774, Thomas Jefferson, one of America's first wine connoisseurs, convinced Italian Philip Mazzei to establish a vineyard on our property. With the financial support of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Thomas Adams and other prominent colonists, the Virginia Wine Company was founded on present day Jefferson Vineyards. Today Jefferson Vineyards is a boutique, family owned winery. We have been creating nationally recognized, quality Virginia wines from classic varietals for over thirty five years, and are considered a pioneer of the Virginia wine industry. We are located between Monticello (home of Thomas Jefferson) and Ash Lawn (home of James Monroe). We open daily for tastings, from 11AM - 6PM. Tastings are $10 and include a souvenir wine glass. We offer mostly dry wines. Tours are not currently offered. We look forward to your visit.

This was our first stop on a wine tasting weekend. The bar has been set high for the weekend. The wines were outstanding and the staff was equal to the wines. It's a must stop.

Our next stop after lunch was to Jefferson Vineyards where we tasted about 14 different wines with once again history details (very crisp, not boring!) shared by our host. We also had some military discount for our active duty family members! We would visit again...More

We're no wine experts but we know what we like. The wines at Jefferson Winery were all very good. The tasting includes 10 wines so you get a good sampling. The grounds of the winery are very beautiful.

Delicious pleasant knowledgeable staff Only disappointment is living in a state that is not on their shopping list With this in mind: Recommend stopping here on the front end of a trip to enjoy these wines through out your time in the area

This winery was rated #1 on a competitive travel site our friends read while I drove. It's OK,but certainly not the best. Surroundings are pleasant, wines decent quality and our hostess was one of the best this weekend.
