In 1774, Thomas Jefferson, one of America's first wine connoisseurs, convinced Italian Philip Mazzei to establish a vineyard on our property. With the financial support of Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, Thomas Adams and other prominent colonists, the Virginia Wine Company was founded on present day Jefferson Vineyards. Today Jefferson Vineyards is a boutique, family owned winery. We have been creating nationally recognized, quality Virginia wines from classic varietals for over thirty five years, and are considered a pioneer of the Virginia wine industry. We are located between Monticello (home of Thomas Jefferson) and Ash Lawn (home of James Monroe). We open daily for tastings, from 11AM - 6PM. Tastings are $10 and include a souvenir wine glass. We offer mostly dry wines. Tours are not currently offered. We look forward to your visit.

Visited on Saturday, 2/18. Property was ok. Service in the tasting room was terrible. Elaine was very unfriendly and even a bit condescending. Would not recommend. Will not go back.

Being from Loudoun county, Va, where wineries seem to be as plentiful as traffic, I was very impressed with the wines at Jefferson Vineyards. From the whites to the reds, it was hard to find fault or flaw with these fine wines. These are the kind of wines that established Virginia's reputation as a wine state.

The tasting is over priced at $12 pp. though they do offer 8 or so in the tasting. We asked about the $20 card but they were out. They should have removed it from their site - we would have had to have left and gone to another Vineyard 15 min down the road to get the card and return.... More

We're sorry you were unable to get the Winter Wonderland Passport during your visit. We simply sold out, however we received more this week which is why the promotion remains on our website. Our reds are certainly made to age and we try to make a little something for everyone. Please come back again! More

Jefferson Winery is a great stop if you want a quaint winery that is very friendly. Kendall was our server for our wine tasting and she was very knowledgeable and engaging. She took her time with us and explained each wine in detail. For all months, except winter, they have an outside deck for picnic lunches and they also have... More

One of our stops on our wine weekend away! Had a great tasting with friendly staff (thank you Kendall!). Wines were pleasant. On a slightly warmer day it would be nice to bring a picnic and enjoy a nice bottle.

If you're fortunate to visit when there's a crowd, you will find a lively atmosphere. Sometimes, it's dead and it can be stuffy. The best time is catching it when the Monticello tour lets out. It's the requisite next stop. Cheers!

Thank you for the 5 star review. Winter is a slower season for us, especially on weekdays. If you're trying to avoid the crowds it's the best time to visit! More

Pretty good wines here although the vineyard is trafficking on its connections with TJ. The tasting room is a bit of a let down in comparison to other vineyards with a small bar, fully array of gift items and a hurried approach to tasting by the bar tenders. The fee is high as well. Nice view of the hills in... More

I was more than surprised when we were charged $20 for my spouse & me to SHARE a tasting.......especially when I have just read other TA reviews that state the rate was $10/person. Yes, we did get our one wine glass to take home with us.....but we are still taken aback by the crazy fee that we were charged. That... More

We stumbled on this winery after trying to visit Trump Winery and finding it closed. A delightful woman provided the tasting, and gave us a lot of information on the winery and wines, as well as providing recommendations on other area wineries. Tasting was $10.00 for 7 wines and you keep the glass. The facility is on the smaller side,... More
