everything is great, except we cant start a fire, only staff can. The wood are clean and well kept. The garden is open and cute. Along with the honey bees. This is a perfect place to have a day time trip.

I usually go here to walk but there is also a nature center that kids love. There are trails, benches, and creeks. There are some stairs in areas but most of the area is flat

Visited and walked multiple trails at this location. The lotus pond is beautiful and peaceful along with the nature center. Very peaceful and tranquil. The trails are clean and relaxing to walk.

The Walney Visitor Center includes Walney pond, trails, the Ellanor C Lawrence Park and the visitor center. Trails through the woods abound. An especially nice visit during the spring and fall, not far from Dulles airport.

A resident of Manassas, I had driven by this place for years before I finally insisted (on Father's Day, when I could do so) that the whole family accompany me on a visit and hike - we're all glad we did We learned a lot from the displays at the Visitor Center and the hiking trail we took (40 min circuit hike) was unspoiled and quite pretty. Visit, but ... sssshhh ... don't tell anybody else!

We walked around the grounds and talked with the person inside the visitor center. The day we were there they had kids coming in and asking for clues for their next part. I am sure this was a camp geared for kids to keep them busy for their parents. The kids really enjoyed playing the game and kept them active. There is picnic tables there to enjoy and a small garden. There are trails to hike on as well. Very interesting place to visit and enjoy for an outdoor day.

In early June, I saw a hawk, a turtle and white-breasted nuthatch birds. If you come to Ellanor Lawrence park via Walney Rd. & Route 28, the 1st stop is the parking lot near the Mill. There is a pond for fishing (not sure what you could catch - it's quite small), and plenty of gravel-lot parking, picnic tables and the trail network to start. From here you are actually about 1mi. (via the trails) to the visitor's center, which isn't marked on some FaIrfax County Park Authority maps. This park is a gem within a very urban area. I won't lie - you can still hear highway noise from Route 28 and Interstate 66, but it is a wonderful place to visit to enjoy some peace and quiet.

We go here every few weekends to walk in the woods. My son loves it here and is always asking to go. All the trails are pretty easy to navigate and is good for all ages.
There is rarely a lot of people out on the trails which is really nice, it's close by and an easy escape from the hustle and bustle of the suburban surroundings.

The Walney visitor center has a few hands-on nature exhbitis, a gift shop, and a few live animals (turtles, snakes, etc.) In the surrounding Elleanor C. Lawrence park, you'll find hiking trails, a creek, and a pond. There's an old smokehouse and the ruins of an ice house, beehives, and a butterfly garden as well. The nature center is smaller and less impressive than Hidden Oaks, but the park as a whole has more to offer.
