They sunk several event boats here in 1949 to akr a causeway for ferry service from the mainland. The bridge put that out of service. Bring your fishing pole and binoculars. They is also a campsite. The grounds are very well kempt. Lots of shore...More

We stopped here last week, while traveling, just for a short break. Took in the views down by the pier and walked the beach a little. Plenty of parking, decent restrooms, very nice pier; beautiful views of the Bay, the bridge, and the man-made reef...More

A great state park! A lot of trails to walk and nice beach area. We spent an entire day walking and taking in the sights.

Virginia parks are wonderful campground. Kiptopeke is right on the bay, with lots space and full hookups. All the sites are open which is different. It is an easy walk from campsite to the beach and fishing areas.

Some folks where we were staying recommended we stop by here. Was looking to take our dogs on the beach. There is a section just for dogs which is nice. We have senior dogs and one "gave out" having to much fun so I took...More

We rented one of the cabins in the park for the weekend. Great accommodations! We went to the fishing pier, biked the trails, went into Cape Charles Old Town, and enjoyed the peace and quiet of the offseason. We are planning our next trip back!

There are a couple things to understand about Kiptopeke State Park in order to appreciate it and to have an experience in line with your expectations. First, it’s a state park. It’s not a private or chain owned “resort” style campground with game rooms, pool...More

We stopped by hoping to hike some trails but found that this was more of a campground than a state park. It looks like a great place to stay but noisy campers made hiking a different experience than we were looking for.More

I'm wondering if you picked up our park brochure. The developed footprint of the park is small compared to the overall acreage of the park and there are a number of great hiking opportunities that are nowhere near the campground. You will have to come...More

Try calling the office, they have different classifications of watercraft and it may be season dependent.

Thanks for helping this traveler BFly823! We camped in the group camping area and not by the cabins. Fire pits with grates and picnic tables in the group area. Enjoy your trip!
