At nearly 18 miles long, this bridge-tunnel complex is one of the engineering wonders of the world. Connecting Virginia's Eastern Shore with Virginia's mainland in Virginia Beach/Norfolk, this facility will save travelers 90 miles or more as they travel from points north of Wilmington, Delaware and head down the East Coast towards Virginia Beach or North Carolina's Outer Banks. With a restaurant and gift shop located on the southernmost island of the facility, travelers can enjoy spectacular views of the Chesapeake Bay while dining on delicious Virginia-inspired cuisine or while shopping for unique gifts and souvenirs. AND, the 625-foot fishing pier, located 3.5 miles off shore, provides anglers with a unique fishing opportunity, while leaving the boat at home!

Unbelieveable feat of engineering. Drive across saves many miles between Virginia Beach and Philadelphia. Stunning scenery especially at sunset. Wanted to stop at the rest area but at 60 miles per hour with a line of traffic behind you, making almost a u-turn was quite impossible. What were the thinking???

We love going over the bridge and see the waves crash below us and the gulls fly above. It is the gateway to Virginia's Eastern Shore which is a lovely destination.

Been wanting to go across this bay bridge since 2014 when we were on our motorcycle but the winds were to strong to cross,21 1/2 miles long,2 tunnels,We stop and check out the store, but they said it will be torn down, but the fishing pier will stay,But just think as you going under the tunnel a aircraft carrier above... The rest stop is a great place to get a snack look for Dolphins and meet nice people. You can walk around to stretch your legs. And fish off the pier.

This cost $13.00 to go under 2 tunnels and over 3 bridges covering some twenty plus miles distance. This is a must driving experience up their with the causeway links to the Florida Keys. Built in the 70’s a remarkable feat of engineering. On the north is a simple observation point, to the south just outside the south tunnel is... More

We crossed this 37 km-long on a road trip from Montreal, Canada, to Orlando. This was a great crossing where you really have the impression of driving in the middle of the ocean since you do not see the shore in the middle. If you can, you have to stop at the rest-area on the bridge and have a walk... More

It has been quite a few years since I visited the Bridge-Tunnel, and my wife had never made the crossing before. It was a pleasant trip, and the only disappointment was that we didn't see any large, ocean-going ships during our crossing. I can remember taking the large ferry across during family trips in my childhood, and this is certainly... More

I was tied up in knots from the moment we entered the bridge...why? Well i can't swim and and knowing there nothing but a huge, deep body of water beneath me for 23 miles was frightening...what if...never mind. It was really a cool trip and a lot fun. It's hard to believe that so many people commute on this stretch... More

The drive looks intimidating because of the 25 miles is tunnel and bridge but it is a sight to see and witness. Please follow the laws of the road and so not pass in the tunnels
