It was nice to browse the shops and sit and have coffee. Pretty cool that you can be on one side of the street in Tennessee or cross over to Virginia.

Come by and take a picture under the sign as many have done over the years. This historic sign has stood over the street of two states and is the gateway to history and the Downtown District. Wonderful places to eat and have a good time in the many shops and the Paramount.

My husband and I enjoy going downtown to the antique shops and to Cranberry Lane. There are some really good places to eat- Macado's, State Line, Quaker Steak. There are different musical events throughout the year and a farmer's market in the summer.

We parked in the public library parking lot and were able to walk up and down State Street to enjoy the storefronts and find something to drink. Enjoyed Whiskey Rebellion. Also the pool hall- worth going in and meeting new people and shooting a round of pool.

We have lived here for thirty years. Close to retirement, we are often asked where we want to live after retirement, and although we travel often, we haven't found anywhere we would rather live. We love to walk, eat, visit on State Street.

After weathering decades of decline, Bristol TN/VA downtown State Street is a now thriving district for eating, shopping and entertainment. Easily walkable and compact, State Street (and the surrounding blocks) are packed with restaurants, shops, galleries, brew pubs, bakeries, music venues, a historic theater and an fantastic Smithsonian affiliated museum. Most of the original 1920's buildings are intact, and the... More
