If you can get down the paths to the water and you remembered your water shoes to get past the rocks on your way in, you will be rewarded with the most enjoyable experience in the water. The lake was beautiful, on the warmer side of cool, and so clean and refreshing! Kayakers abounded. If you don't mind the rocks you can sit and sun on the beach. At the top of the hill near parking area are shaded grounds for picnics. If you are handicapped, you could enjoy the picnic area but too dangerous to descend to the water. …

We were visiting the area and following a nice driving tour of southern Vermont. It took us south of Wilmington on Castle Hill road then left on Boyd Hill road to this hidden gem. Many picnic tables overlooking a lovely lake area. Large parking lot and porta potties. No commercial services so bring your own water, drinks, lunch or snacks. …

If you are in southern Vermont in the summer or early fall and want a wonderful spot for a picnic area, Ward's Cove is it. It is at the end of Boyd Hill rd. (also a very scenic road) but remember as you come down Boyd Hill rd from Wilmington when it T's out, turn right to the picnic area). The gates are closed sometime in early fall, but you can still park and go down there. There are picnic tables, grills and a great little (rocky) beach. Fun for all and wonderful scenery. (the port-a-potties might not be there after September...I don't remember)…
