Cookie and Fudge Samples!

We loved this VCS. It's huge and the samples abound! Highlight of the kids trip, especially the fudge samples. We have to stop every time now- or they will revolt.

Once again a North Ridge Tours group is making plans to visit Vermont in September. Our favorite place to lodge our groups is Big Bears Lodge in West Dover. Our hosts Caroline and Steve are wonderful. The BEST place to shop is at the Vermont Country Store in Weston. There you can find that very special item from days gone... More

Take a trip back to the days of penny candy and union suits! In fact, you could purchase both here and spend the evening eating candy IN your own union suit. Funny and will bring a smile even to those who are not into nostalgia...

While our teenagers were skiing at Killington we took a leisurely drive through the beautiful Vermont countryside to the Vermont Country Store. We spent several hours there looking around. There were so many unique items in this store. We ended up buying all kinds of maple food products as gifts. My husband bought the Miracle Hand Cream and is very... More

We loved everything we picked up there, though I'd say most if not all of it was stuff you didn't know you needed until you saw it... it's a fun place, filled to the brim with kitchen gadgets, fun flavors of all kinds of food stuffs including local cheeses. The samples were fun of course and there were plenty of... More

We've been going to the VCS for about 25 years....and still keep going back. Each time we're in Vermont we stop by to check out their new household/kitchen items, grab a paper sack of penny-candy, see the local Vermont made items. Don't miss checking out the bargain room upstairs for some really wonderful bargains and unique items. Make sure to... More

This is a classic must stop in. It used to be Better when it focused on the vintage nick knacks and had a much bigger and better candy selection for the kids. Now seems more like a toy shop trying to appeal to English classics but all in all it's pretty cool stop by.

Our family of four visited during the late afternoon during winter break. After eating at the restaurant, we got lost for a while looking around the store. There is actually penny candy. There is also fudge (which you can sample) and every chocolate confection you can be tempted by. You buy the candy in small paper bags, writing the per... More

I've shopped this store's online site and was excited to go to the flagship store. This place has everything from clothing to penny candy ( I didn't love that the penny candy is out in the open, but it was fun to see) There are a lot of opportunities to sample goodies and I fell in love with Orton Brothers...
