Went up the toll road for the first time in years. Beautiful day in the valley. When we got to the end of the road we were in a cloud! Lovely ride with views not to be seen any other way!

Take the gondola ride to the "cliff" trail head, about $28. There you begin a hike that is labeled "difficult", but if you are at all in shape, you can manage if you watch your step and mind your footing. My 13 year old son...More

Enjoyed a beautiful day atop the beautiful state of VT! We approached via the AT but you can also drive up the auto road and hike across the ridge

Great views along trails. Hiking conditions great. Ride through the Notch incredible with many trails along it, some leading to the Long Trail.

The Stowe area and Mt. Mansfield/Spruce Peak has always been a cut above and geared toward the more well heeled......BUT recently, they have doubled down with day lift passes exceeding $125.00 and New Spruce Peak Accommodations (Though Gorgeous) exceeding $400.00 per night!

My family of 4(kids 11 & 13) took the Gondola up the mountain. Being scared of heights I was a bit nervous but it was totally fine! Wonderful photo ops at the top of the whole area. Well worth it!!

If you take the gondola to the Cliff House, there are plenty of views and I don't think you will be disappointed. I've never taken the auto toll road so can't address that part of your question. Hope this helps.
