Simply gorgeous reservoir and we had a blast kayaking. We rented our kayaks from Up North Canoe and Kayaks and they dropped them off at the boat ramp. The reservoir is very difficult to find if you're not familiar with its location, so I recommend getting directions before hand from an outfitter like Up North Kayaks.

Vermont beauty and nature at its finest. Woke up to Common Loons and to glass-like water with a wonderful morning mist covering

We had a unbelievable long weekend camping at Green River Reservoir. This is a truly beautiful place and as their site states: remote. Site 12 is one of the longer paddles from the launch. It takes about 35 minutes of paddling to get to it.

Site 12 info:
This site has a compost toilet but not bear box. It is a smallish site with a good location for a single medium size tent. Unfortunately that location does not really afford a view of the water from the tent. I suppose if you had a small 2 person tent you could put it closer to the firepit and have a view but I did not want to risk a stray ember burning a hole in my 3P tent. The site is not immediately on water and has about a 40 foot climb up a hill to get to it. There is a very nice beach area near the water though and my wife and I set up our chairs there during the day. The water is very clear and swimmable. After swimming I never had that "sticky" feeling you sometimes get when swimming in a pond. I would recommend water shoes because the bottom can have some debris. When we paddled around we saw people at other sites with inflatable mats floating around. We were jealous and will definitely bring some next time. Other than Loons on the lake we did not see any wildlife. One morning when we awoke we could hear something big sloshing around in the water below- we were both too groggy to get up and see what it was. Although the park offers Bear boxes at some sites one ranger told me that there was not really a bear problem as much as there was a Racoon problem. I would recommend bringing a bear bag for that reason alone.
We are looking forward to staying again next year.

Beautiful paddle, no motorized boats allowed. Parking and launching was easy. The loons were vocal, scenery was beautiful.

5pm on a friday afternoon. fifteen dogs running wildly around the staging area ( a small confined space where we load/unload. people
seem to think dog excrement is a natural addition to the environment.
No supervision, no restrictions...it's like a dog park minus the bags
and disposal cans. Stopped at recreational island, walked ten feet;
human feces and wiping paper scattered on the path on an island
about 70 feet long

Green River Reservoir is an absolutely beautiful place to kayak. No motorized boats are allowed so it is quiet and peaceful. Loons, other waterfowl and frogs are out and about and it's a wonderful way to spend the day. If you haven't been here you must go!

This is a fantastic spot. Perfect for quiet reflection and loon watching, don’t miss this in the summer! Join the Friends too to help preserve the site. They have a newsletter to let you know what’s happening, and often give great talks. Camping is great and they added bear protection of food this year.

Beautiful place, but I won’t pay to kayak. So many many more places in the area that are free and beautiful. Too far to carry your kayak also!

This is a great recreation area. A little hard to find and not a lot of parking so get there early! We stayed over night on campsite 30 (best campsite). We piled out canoes high with supplies and paddled out to the island where the campsite was. The campsite has a compost bathroom but other then that it is very primitive. The coolest part is the Loons! We even saw a baby Loon. I can't wait to go back!
