A relatively small but decent farmers market. We came here for lunch hoping for more food stands, but most of the stands seemed to be selling specialty food products. We ended up getting a mango lassi from the Nepalese stand (too much yogurt and not enough mango, very sour), a concha from one of the baked goods stands (tasty), and a lemonade from the lemonade stand (fine). The setting is in a parking lot with no shade, though there is some seating underneath tents. I enjoyed this but I wouldn't go out of my way to come back.

We walked around the market one warm morning and it was so nice. Just big enough that you can see everything in an hour or so. We bought some great slow fired baguette, Vermont cheddar cheese and cheese curds, some terrific hot sauce and some apples and hot chocolate. The fresh flower were beautiful and they had some fantastic smelling maple baked goods among other things that looked very interesting. Go early as it does get very crowded by mid-morning.

Vibrant Farmer's Market on the south end of the Waterfront in Burlington. Parking can be dicey on the weekends. Gorgeous and colorful produce; many varieties of maple syrup; local distilled products including gin, bourbon, vodka; jewelry and weaving; on site hot food and drinks. Prices overall were quite reasonable.

Awesome that they continue this through the winter indoors. I could not purchase much due to a flight the next day, I would have bought many of the varieties of Kimchee and root veggies if I had more time. Wish I would have visited this place on day 1 of the trip. Recommend you check it out. I was put off by the politics of the the vendors and the University but other than that enjoyed the hour I spent there.

Oh jeez, can you spell “Crunchy Granola”? On the good side, this is the largest Farmer’s Market in Vermont with lots of stuff and lots of people to look at. It is a major tourist attraction or major tourist trap, depending on your point of view. It certainly is a nice place for a stroll on a nice Saturday morning while taking in people watching and some taste testing.

I object to what these markets have become – in simple terms – a rip off. Back a few years ago, before they invented the stupid word “Localvore”, one could go to a farm stand out in the country and buy local farm products for very competitive prices. But now, if it is grown in Vermont or anywhere near Vermont, the price doubles and triples. Example: here in late August, tomatoes are plentiful and prices at the supermarket have plummeted as they always do this time of year. But at the Farmer’s market - $4-5 a pound. Ridiculous!

The joke is that Vermonters (except the ones who earn 7 figures) cannot afford to eat here. Thank God for the tourists to keep the farmers well fed. The rest of us have to run our own gardens or wait for sales at the store.

Besides food, there are various alcoholic beverages for tasting (around kids?), various medicinal herbs which will cure all your ills and a plethora of artsey-fartsey crafts suitable for your next garage sale.

So yeah, I do buy things on occasion. Items like Veal Cutlet are generally not available in stores around here, and is very pricey, so I’ll buy the local Veal when available. And I feel real good that the sign says “humanely raised”. Hey, did you read it a bedtime story before chopping off its head!?? And I’m a sucker for the $4 pretzels (it’s a stupid pretzel, why so darn expensive?)

So check it out, but be vigilant about guarding your wallet as there are many silly ways to lighten your load.

Just visited this place last weekend, I was surprised to see that the market closed at 2pm unless I was in the wrong place! This definitely is the place to check out and appears to be a locals favourite to hangout and get some good food! I enjoyed walking around seeing the old architecture of the buildings! You should come here for sure!

This was a real nice farmers market. Different to purchase. Made with all fresh ingredients from their farms. I purchased some local maple syrup and some great cheese from the same farmer’s cows! Great asst. of herbs and plants. Topped off the day with some wonderful pastry. Dogs were allowed on leashes!

Its crowded. Its filled with more than you can imagine. Go early. Or go at the very end when the leftovers go on super sale. It is in City Hall Park and around it. Traffic can be a tangle. So try to park and walk. Bring a cart as you will buy and buy and eat and enjoy

One of my favorite summer time activities. Tons of choices and great food. Make sure to stop at Butternut Squash Farms for their breakfast burrito - I recommend two with extra hot sauce! They also have some other locally made items around the market - clay items, handmade stuff, jewelry, etc.. Personally, I purchased some handmade plates/bowls/cups/etc.. and have been super happy - very durable and great price.

They also have free/secure bike parking which is nice so you don't have to worry about your expensive road bike. The bike parking ticket also comes with 20% off at SkiRack which is down the street and also sells Cannondale bikes.

The Farmers' Market is right in the center of Burlington, adjacent to the pedestrian mall, and easily accessible. Although it was a busy Saturday morning, we had no problem parking. Wonderful ambience and great foods!
