I have an 8x10 print up of this hike in my living room. This hike is one of the best slots I have done. We probably hiked in 4 to 5 miles from the Wire Pass Trailhead stopped at a couple of very large Chokestones. We did it in June. MUST bring neoprenes socks or at the very least wool... More

This is a short, easy hike. It is under 4 miles round trip. It does take some time to drive in to the trailhead. Four wheel drive would be best as there are some wash areas. Also, watch the weather as the road could be pretty gnarly with rain.

This is an awesome place to go for a day hike or longer. Very beautiful. Had a great day with friends here. Bring plenty of water. Some parts can be hard to navigate.

This year, at the end of October, the chockstone rockfall area just past the entrance was more difficult to climb down than last year. The broken logs that were leaning up the rockfall were no longer there to help negotiate the climb up or down. There was only one skinny tree trunk jammed vertically under the chockstone and it was... More

Nothing particular about this trail head. It is a dirt road with a parking lot and a potty stop. Except is the access to two great trails: The wave and Bucksking gulch!

Either of these destinations are great hikes. I recommend that you Google each destination for more detailed descriptions. The "Wave" is a phenomenal sandstone formation that is accessible (legally, anyway) by permit. Buckskin Gulch, the nation's longest slot canyon can be explored without permit (unless you are overnighting in the canyon). Both are great examples of can take place when... More

This was a great hie. You have to go down a dirt road about 9 miles to get to the trailhead. Once parked it is about 1 1/2 miles to drop into the slot canyon.

We found this place in the top 10 things to do in Kanab. While driving from Page we googled it and it said in a half mile turn left, so we did. 8 miles on a dusty red dirt road and not a car in sight until we rounded the bend and saw a parking lot full of cars. We... More

By the reviews too many people are discouraged by the large chokestone just past the entrance to the slots. Just before the entrance on the right side there are some cairns marking a path around the chokestone that most people can negoitiate. It is worth the effort to get into the canyon.

We had a lot of fun hiking this trail. So many areas to explore. There was water on the right side of the fork toward White Head in the gulch so we could only venture out about a few feet into the best part of the slot canyon. That was disappointing but maybe someday we can go back and it'll... More
