The trail is a lot of fun, ... we did it with 7 of us ages 50-13 ... heres what you probably want to know -the trail : the hill country is rocky, thus , there are a lot of loose rocks on the trail, recommend a hiking stick for stability, the terrain is mostly uneven, though completely doable. This is a beautiful trail but I was overwhelmed by the number of loud day hikers who didn't know trail etiquette. The Monkey Rock is cool to see and we enjoyed the view from scenic overlook #3 it is worth the detour.

We (6 adults ages 30 to 67) walked this trail from the parking lot to the ascent point. We were crunched for time due to fitting the hike in between Sonbun's naps, so we doubled back, unable to finish more of the trail. The part we were on was beautiful, clean, and well maintained. It was open, with many of... More

The monkey rock is fun, the grotto is beautiful.....and the scenic overlooks are awesome! A little vigorous, but well worth it!!

Loved the hike. My wife isn't much on hiking and even though there were moderately difficult parts, we were able to hike the whole loop fairly easily.

This is an impressive structure that really looks like a monkey! We Loved the hike, we loved the monkey, and we loved the park! There is also a geocache nearby if you want to log a smiley.

Nature lover galore. The trails are not for those with weak ankles or bad knees. It is a true hike and terrain is not always friendly. If you are a nature lover you will enjoy this. Cliffs, shallow rivers to cross, canyons and much more. Wild life (good AND BAD) so watch out. There is a great place to camp... More

Bring good shoes, it's pretty steep! However, it's worth it. We ate lunch at the top, and enjoyed the gorgeous views! We were there early October, and could already see the colors changing.

The East Trail in Lost Maples State Park was quite a hike, but the views were worth it. I recommend hiking boots as the loose gravel can be tough to navigate and bring plenty of water.

Okay, so it wasn't THAT bad, but it is definitely not a trail for the small, the weak, or the infirmed. But for those can, it is worth the effort. You will be rewarded with a beautiful view of the hill country once you reach the top. It is a 4.6 mile hike that gets pretty steep at parts. A... More
